Poll - Would you pay $30-$50 for high quality speech synthesis?
Many of you are familiar with how lousy Festival sounds. AT&T has a product, NaturalVoices, that sounds much better. There are male & female voice fonts for US/UK/Indian English, French, Spanish, and German. I am considering offering a linux-based text-to-speech engine based on the NaturalVoices runtime. An asterisk module would also be provided, making it easy to add natural sounding

How to Export COM port to guest domain
Greetings, Using Xen 3.1 and Fedora 7, is it possible to export the serial interface such that I can access external devices on COM1 or COM2? I am uncertain if PCI pass-thru is needed or if there''s nothing to configure for this to work in a fully virtualized Linux guest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Tony Johnson _______________________________________________

Xen 3.2.1, Intel DQ35JO, VT-d not working with Windows 2003
I spent a few hours upgrading one of my Xen boxes so that I''d be able to use VT-d. I bought a DQ35JO because it seemed like a sure thing. I can successfully use pciback to hide and grab devices. Specifically I am trying to pass some USB controllers to Windows. The DQ35JO/ICH9DO appears to have two independent sets of USB UHCI/EHCI controllers: 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel

Cellsocket Report Card (GSM/PCS to FXS gateway)
I recently purchased a Cellsocket, which is a cradle that holds some older Nokia GSM/PCS phones and converts them to an FXS interface. My test phone is a Nokia 5190 on the T-Mobile GSM network. After going through the ordeal of unlocking the phone (T-Mobile provided unlock codes that didn't work), I finally got it up and running. The good: - Disconnect supervision works - Outstanding sound

Cellsocket update
When I posted my last message about the cellsocket, I hadn't thought to try incoming calls. (I bought the cellsocket to use only for outgoing calls.) Unfortunately, I cannot get the cellsocket to work for inbound calls. CallerID does not work even though I have a GSM phone. The cellsocket answers the phone and then starts ringing any attached phones after answering. Most importantly,

Tellabs 2572 Configuration Advice?
Can anyone share any advice / documentation on how to configure a Tellabs 2572 T1 echo canceller? I connected one between a T100P and an Adtran TA750 FXO/FXS channelbank, but when echo cancellation is active I get a LOT of snap-crackle-pop (and other problems) on the line. The 2572 has a bunch of configuration options and they're impossible to guess without documentation, which I cannot find

Xen 3.2.1, Intel DQ35JO tips
I thought I''d pass along a few tips for getting the Intel DQ35JO motherboard to play nice with Xen: 1. The dom0 kernel won''t boot with CONFIG_PCI_MMCONFIG enabled. If you get a hang during boot after seeing this message: ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00) ...then MMCONFIG is your problem. Some kernels seem to support a pci=nommconfig option, but my Gentoo 2.6.21 Xen

PCI passthrough working on Xen 3!
Thanks to the kind person(s) who worked on this. I am using PCI passthrough right now and it works. I hope support is added for VT domains too; That would be extremely useful. So far I have tried a NIC, USB, and PCI Video. The NIC works flawlessly. USB works as long as the devices are present at the time the domain is started. Hotplugging USB devices seems not to work.
