I have a couple of DVD drives (one drive, one burner) that used to play DVDs quite fine from 5.3 to somewhere in the 6.x branch. Nowadays I have to send them to PIO4 to play DVDs, because they'll just throw DMA not aligned errors around in UDMA33 or WDMA2 mode. We run several RH7.2/7.3 servers & recently 2 of them, although still working fine, have started to show kjournald as generally using over 50% cpu% on 'top' - virtually continuously. Free cpu% generally less than 25% now! Both machines are also using software RAID5 EIDE ....... otherwise are standard server installs. Any info on what kjournald is & why it should have recently

Hello Folks, We have 2 (identical hardware) busy public 2U rack servers, both have several hundred users & peak email (for example) deliveries at 300/5min during the daytime. ...at 0:32 this morning. I have 3 other computers that did not reboot leaving me to believe there was no power failure. I looked through all the logs seeking clues as to what happened. Hardware failure? It is an old p-75 and the hard drive has had issues in udma-2 but has been doing fine for months in pio4 mode. I also have a cron job at 0:30 to move the apache logs to a tmp file restart apache sleep 5 minutes and then move the tmp file somewhere where newsyslog can catch it. I sent a note about this a couple of weeks ago, but have not heard anything. I'm really getting a bit desperate. I have a system that I am trying to upgrade from 8.2 to 9.0.
