Samba 2.2.0

Trying to compile the new 2.2.0 Samba release.
Is there a trick to getting "./configure --enable-shared"
to work. It says my libtool doesn't support shared libraries
( but it does for all other packages I build )
Is there a recommended GCC and GLIBC version for this release.
