browser() misbehavior ?
...yone else experienced this? I am using v1.6.2 on Windows NT 4.
Under Linux i686 (Mandrake 9.0), the same example works as expected;
execution is stopped and I can usefully browser() as it is designed.
As always, any advice is welcome.
Thanks,
Bill

axes that meet
R v. 1.7.1, Windows 2000.
A particular journal wants me to provide scatter plots with no box, but
with axes that meet in the lower left corner. It seems as though there must
be an easy way of doing this, but my reading the help on plot.default,
axis, and box have not provided any clues. I would be most appreciative of
any feedback.

Is there anything analogous to par(new=T) that I could use to achieve this
behavior of "not cleaning the frame" with lattice commands? Any workaround
or advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Missing data
Hi all,
I'm looking for a contributed package that can provide a detailed
account of missing data patterns and perhaps also provide imputation
procedures, such as mean imputation or hot deck imputation and the like.
Is there anything out there?
Thanks in advance,
David

goodness of fitting for a mixed distribution
Hi all!
i have done a fitting of experimental data using optim function and
setting up my mixed distribution logliklehood (it is a linear
combination of a normal and a weibull distribution). How can i test
the goodness of fit? I want to be able to say that my distribution fit
the data at 90%, 95% or so on....

Hi,
I am wondering whether anyone of you already implemented in R or S+ the
methods of estimation the parameters of stable distribution. If there is, i
will be happy to get the copy of the codes.

Thanks and Summary (was par(new=T) with xyplot)
...of xyplot() from lattice. The ylim= argument seems to be ignored in
the second plotting call and therefore the y-axes do not line up. (Frank, I
can discuss more with you about this off-list to see why this happens.)
Thanks again and Best Regards,
Bill

Autogenerated png, bitmap images
I have two questions -
1. I am trying to create R png graphs via cron. I have this part working
using Xvfb (X virtual frame buffer). One problem that I have, though, is
that all the fonts on my graphs get messed up. Anybody have any nija R
commands to make all fonts look great? Anybody have any idea how to fix
this? So far, no luck on Solaris or Linux making the Xvfb fonts look
good.

barplot with varaible-width bars
I would like to produce a bar plot with varying-width bars. Here is an example to illustrate:
ww <- c(417,153,0.0216,0.0065,556,256,0.0162,0.0117,

+ 892,591,0.0785,0.0795)
yy<-t(t(array(ww,c(2,10))))
barplot(yy[,2*1:5],las=1,space=c(.1,.5),beside=T)
produces a barplot of 5 pairs of bars that are of equal width

Linux Standalone Server Suggestions for R
Hi All,
My group is looking for any suggestions on what to purchase to
achieve the most powerful number crunching system that $50k can buy.
The main application that will be used is R so input on what hardware
benefits R most will be appreciated. The requirements are that it be
a single standalone server (i.e. not a cluster solution), and it that
must be able to run unix/linux. If

Again, any advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance,

remote access
Hello!
I have such trouble: I like R, but often I don't have administrator
permissions to install R on some (not mine) computers.
Could you give me shell on any server with R installed in order to apply
R without installing it (simply with PuTTY).
Great thanks!

lattice-Internal
Hi,
The functions prepanel.default.bwplot() and lpretty() are not running in Deepayan's
barley example concerning vertical bars with the lattice function barchart().
Why, is there a restricted use for the package lattice-Internal?
