[Bridge] Transparently bridge Vlans to eth0
Hi, I'm using Vlans in my network as a way of preventing pier to pier communication - I only want nodes in the network to talk to the gateway (a linux box). I have successfully set up lots of sub interfaces using the vconfig too, one for each vlan. What I would like to be able to do is remove the ip address from each of these subinterfaces eth0.x and bridge...

Object#id being deprecated - Rails 1.1
...gt; ''bookmark'', :id => @item.id %> >From http://corelib.rubyonrails.org/classes/Object.html#M001093 etc, I can see that the @item.id is throwing the error, and that @item.item_id just gives me a no method error. Any help would be great, if people have time. Thanks Piers -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Does anyone know where I could find a good explanation of how rails works internally?
I was wondering if anyone knew of some resources I could look at to learn about how rails works internally. I''ve been looking through the code but I was wondering if there were any high level explanations of how it works overall. fedora core 2 + bitmap() + ghostscript (PR#7062)
...It was with the version of ghostscript shipped with core 2. Going to rawhide and getting ghostscript 7.07-29 (core 2 comes with 7.07-25) solved this problem. Unfortunately, I have no output to demonstrate this problem as I FINALLY managed to fix it, and there's no way I going back :) Thanks Piers -- /*****************************/ Dr Piers Dunstan Marine Research CSIRO Hobart, Tasmania Ph: 613 6232 5382 Email: Piers.Dunstan@csiro.au /************************************/

Migrate users from old server to new server without moving/copying configuration

Resetting permissions on transferred files
...Samba server for our small office.  As it's completely separate to the old one, I had to use rsync to transfer files over to the new server.  Unsurprisingly, the permissions on the freshly transferred files are incorrect - what's the best way to reset permissions? Many thanks! Cheers - Piers

*** GOODNESS OF FIT FOR BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTED DATA
...this is probably a very newbie statistical question. I have some experimental data. My hypothesis is that the data are binomially distributed with a known N and p. I am trying to obtain a sort of p-value to tell me whether or not my hypothesis is correct. What can I do with R? Thank you, Pier Luca

Special files and Cygwin
...ackup linux special files (/dev/*). I don't know if the problem is in the way rsync has been compiled, or simply in the fact that mknod.exe is missing. What do you think about that? Has anyone tried it before? I could not find references on the mailing list archive or on the web. Thank you -- Pier Paolo Glave __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
