Encryption
...quot;
The above causes Samba to refer all authentication requests to the nominated NT server.
I hope this little contribution helps one or more of our valued Samba users.
Kind regards,
John H Terpstra - The Samba Team <samba-bugs@samba.anu.edu.au>

How do you enable DES encryption in Samba? Turning off encryption on all
out NT/95 boxes is not an option.
Thanks!

problems with a WinNT SMB server
Hello,
as a new Linux user (Red Hat6.0) I am trying to mount hard drives from a
local network which is managed by a windows NTServer. When I try to
launch from the command line:
smbclient -L servername
I am prompted for a password, which I presume is the same password that
I use when I login from a Windows environemt. Given the pasword I get
the message:
session setup failed: ERRDOS -

Winbind causes LLOONNGG delays
I have Samba 3.0.4 joined to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain
with about 16,000 users and 1,000 groups. I run FreeBSD 5.2.1 on a
Dell PowerEdge 1750, dual proc P4 Xeon with HTT and 1 gig of RAM.
Storage is RAID-5, three drives, 36G each. I use winbind to auth
users when accessing shares on the server. This is going to be our
new fileserver.
Check this:
# time ps auxwww | grep http

Can anyone shed some light on this subject? I don't have a clue where to
begin looking. It's RHL 6.0, Samba 2.0.3, stock kernel.

No automatic refresh?
Hi!
I've been struggling with this install of Samba 2.0.4b on Linux/x86 2.0.36.
All of the client machines run Windows NT 4, SP 3.
I'm exporting /tmp as pub, and if I right click in the folder and create
a new folder, it doesn't show up until I go to 'view' and 'refresh'.
If I delete something, it doesn't go away until I refresh.
Why?

Failed RPC Call
...permissions for /home2 and /home2/integrator are as
follows:
drwx--x--x 13 root root 4096 Feb 28 10:31 /home2/
drwxrwsr-x 4 root integrat 4096 Oct 29 12:34 /home2/integrator/
The group only shows up as integrat, but it is really integrator in
/etc/group:
integrator:x:604:kpieckiel,ktaylor,nreed
Is there ANY clue as to why I can't name this service Integrator, or some of
the other service names I've tried?
