ok, I've installed php54-1.1-5.el6.centos.alt.x86_64 ... if I run
`scl enable php54`, will that connect it up to my existing apache, so it
just works, or will that blow the heck out of everything on my host, or
something else? I'm currently using php-5.3.3-46.el6_7.1.x86_64

Wrong version of php
It's been a while since I updated to php72 on this machine and there is some setting I must have forgotten. Apache, root and a user automatically get php72 when I run php in a terminal window, however, a php script picks up the wrong version of php, ie php54 and the version of php in /usr/bin/php is indeed version 5.4.
I have googled without finding the answer but how do I make sure /all/ processes use php72 rather than the default 54 in CentOS 7? Surely there must be a better way than overwriting /usr/bin/php. What have I forgotten to do?
Thank you.

My thought exactly, however, I believe I made at least some of the changes required for new terminal sessions to use php72 rather than the default php54 but for some reason this script uses php54.
The script starts:
#!/usr/bin/env php
I know I can always change this to use the already installed php72 but there must be some other change I forgot to make on my system??

Im not saying that they must remove this package, but they also should
include the newer version. I use freebsd (and its not a toy distro like
fedora), and you have several ports, php, php54, php55 and php56 to
choose whatever you need.
Please, dont think that I dont appreciate the RH job on this, some one
should support a long term version, some applications needs this, but
very few.
Thats all. I needed to say this, this is the only thing that bother me

OwnCloud but I've got some other php stuff thats getting increasingly
unhappy about the stock c6 php...
could someone point me at a writeup on how to setup SCL and php54 or
newer on a CentOS 6 system?...

repoquery -f does not work well.
Hi.
I've found inconstancy between output of repoquery and rpm. I was
looking forward towards apache php 5.4 module which must provided by
some package SCL (can someone tell me?).
rpm -qf /etc/httpd/modules/mod_proxy.so
httpd-2.2.15-29.el6.centos.x86_64
repoquery -qf /etc/httpd/modules/mod_proxy.so
so repoquery results in no output
yum list installed httpd
