USB audio on Centos-7
I'm using Centos-7 on my PC, with ASUS motherboard. internal audio has always worked fine EXCEPT that I can never get audio input (for recording) to work. I want to feed audio from a phono turntable and from a cassette deck. I use a phono preamp for the turntable, or directly connect the tape deck. but either nothing, or low level with horrible distortion. so, I gave up (after years of intermittent battles) and bought a Behringer UFO202, which looks like it should work fine with...

PDA as source client
...* The main use would be covering events at sports fields, auditoriums, etc. that are away from the studio. Since these would already have a PA mixer at them, generally I'd just use an Aux out (line level) from the mixer to line in on the PDA. But a single XLR mic with a converter to 1/8" phono should work too, right? What's the audio quality built in to a PDA like, anybody? I've never used one. I do know that PCMCIA cards for Professional audio exist, which could be an option if the built-in isn't good enough.

> > Stefan > --- >8 ---- >...

question on connecting speakers
Is there an ATA type device out there that has low level audio out for connecting speakers? My asterisk server is in one building, I wish to have speakers in another building and connect them up to a low level audio device that I can call into and speak. Can I connect speakers into the FXS or FXO of a grandstream HT 503? Does that work? I'd prefer not to have a PC setting there (sound

Skype-like dialing from web page
Hi, Is there any softphone or TAPI plug-in that allows one to dial from a web page? As you may know, Skype has a mechanism that converts phone numbers on a web page to a click-to-dial application. I'd like to use this but on a normal softphone (Bria, Xlite, other). Regards, Mike -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

security cameras
I heard about some inexpensive security cameras which get their power through the same cat5 cable which delivers the data/pictures (which would simplify wiring tremendously). Does anyone know about these? Do they work with Linux, particularly CentOS? tnx 4 tips.

PDA as source client
Has anybody used anything other than a PC as a source for icecast2? Are PDAs powerfull enough? I know vorbis encoding takes a signifigant amount of CPU power, but I've been able to do it on 4 year old PCs. Does a 206MHz Intel StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor have as much power as a 200 Mhz Pentium? I'm thinking Compaq iPaq, running Familiar Linux and IceS, would make a nice portable
