Friday @12 Noon EST: PhonoSDK from Voxeo Labs
Topic: Phono and Phono SDK, an exciting development you can read about
at http://phono.com
You can learn all about the technical aspects of Phono and the SDK
Friday with Chris Matthieu, but here are a couple of interesting
implementations that don't require much effort to show a

USB audio on Centos-7
I'm using Centos-7 on my PC, with ASUS motherboard. internal audio
has always worked fine EXCEPT that I can never get audio input (for
recording) to work. I want to feed audio from a phono turntable and
from a cassette deck. I use a phono preamp for the turntable, or
directly connect the tape deck.
but either nothing, or low level with horrible distortion.
so, I gave up (after years of intermittent battles) and bought a
Behringer UFO202, which looks like it should work fine with...

html/js/flash/air SIP clients?
Dear list,
I am looking for an open source SIP client(or any SDK) that can work on a
browser. It may be based html5, javascript, flash, adobe air. I have done
some research myself and I would like to ask the community if they have any
further hints for me. Real life experience would be awesome.
Thanks,
Regards,

PDA as source client

The main use would be covering events at sports fields, auditoriums, etc.
that are away from the studio. Since these would already have a PA mixer
at them, generally I'd just use an Aux out (line level) from the mixer to
line in on the PDA. But a single XLR mic with a converter to 1/8" phono
should work too, right? What's the audio quality built in to a PDA like,
anybody? I've never used one.
I do know that PCMCIA cards for Professional audio exist, which could be
an option if the built-in isn't good enough.

question on connecting speakers
Is there an ATA type device out there that has low level audio out for
connecting speakers?
My asterisk server is in one building, I wish to have speakers in
another building
and connect them up to a low level audio device that I can call into and
speak.
Can I connect speakers into the FXS or FXO of a grandstream HT 503? Does
that work?
I'd prefer not to have a PC setting there (sound

Skype-like dialing from web page
Hi,
Is there any softphone or TAPI plug-in that allows one to dial from a web
page? As you may know, Skype has a mechanism that converts phone numbers on
a web page to a click-to-dial application. I'd like to use this but on a
normal softphone (Bria, Xlite, other).

Mike

security cameras
I heard about some inexpensive security cameras which get their power
through the same cat5 cable which delivers the data/pictures (which
would simplify wiring tremendously). Does anyone know about these? Do
they work with Linux, particularly CentOS?
tnx 4 tips.

PDA as source client
Has anybody used anything other than a PC as a source for icecast2? Are
PDAs powerfull enough? I know vorbis encoding takes a signifigant amount
of CPU power, but I've been able to do it on 4 year old PCs. Does a
206MHz Intel StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor have as much power as a 200
Mhz Pentium?
I'm thinking Compaq iPaq, running Familiar Linux and IceS, would make a
nice portable
