Need uuid rpm for CentOS-5.2
On my development system I have installed PostgreSQL 8.x from the
yum.pgsqlrpms.org repository. I am getting a dependency error:
Error: Missing Dependency: libossp-uuid.so.15 is needed by package
postgresql-contrib
I can find references to this file in an rpm for fc7
(uuid-1.5.1-3.fc7.i386) but nothing else. Is there a place that I can
obtain a CentOS version of this pack...

Problems compiling PostgreSQL package from FC8 on CentOS 5
Dear CentOS list
we are a small software company making mostly web driven GIS software.
We started to simplify out sysadmin life making RPM packages of most of
the GIS software stack. For a dependency issue we had to abandon the
upstream 8.1 PostgreSQL and install at least a 8.2 version. Taking the
package from Fedora 8 and rebuilding it for x86_64 went smoothly.
Unfortunatly the same is

integration of full text search. It is also reputed to provide a performance
increase of at least 5% over 8.2.6.
As usual, RHEL compatible RPMS are available at postgresql.org. However,
there is a new (to me at least) project at http://yum.pgsqlrpms.org/ which
provides a YUM repository for recent updates (actually everything from 7.4 to
8.3) to PostgreSQL suitable for RHEL 4.5 and 5 and Fedora 7 and 8. They also
provide a YUM configuration RPM for each distro as well.
Those who, like me, choose to judiciously update packages in advance of t...

Who maintains php-pgsql package? I want to ask about using PostgreSQL 8.4 library instead of PostgreSQL 8.1.
How do I find out who is the maintainer of the php-pgsql package, please?
I want to request upgrade from underlying postgresql-libs-8.1.21
(/usr/lib64/libpq.so.4) to postgresql84-libs-8.4.4 (/usr/lib64/libpq.so.5.2).
Background on this request: Apache httpd's php's php-pgsql uses
PostgreSQL 8.1 library (/usr/lib64/libpq.so.4), which leaks memory.
PostgreSQL 8.4 library does not leak.

how to push the bounds and get newer packages for centos 5.4?
i've just started looking after a (virtual) centos 5.4 server that's
hosted at rackspace and, unsurprisingly, it was set up with all the
standard defaults. part of the work i'll be doing involves php and,
as i read it, the standard php version with centos 5.4 is php-5.1.
if i *wanted* to move up to a more recent version (say, php-5.3),
obviously, i'd need to go outside the
