AIX binaries website down
Hello! I need to install Samba on AIX and the AIX folder in https://download.samba.org/pub/samba/Binary_Packages/ has only a readme that points to the following address: http://pware.hvcc.edu/ However that host is down, what is the best way to get Samba binaries for AIX? Thanks!

AIX: TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: '_hashlib.HASH' and 'str'
Hi there! We're trying to compile Samba 4.0.0 on a fresh install of AIX 6.1 (6100-02-01-0847), with Python RPM's from perzl.org installed into /opt/freeware. We're also using XLC 12.1. Unfortunately, we can't even run ./configure, as we're getting errors from the waf system. Here's what we get: bash-4.2# pwd /admin/tst/build/samba-4.0.0 bash-4.2# ./configure --help Traceback (most recent call last):...

R, AIX 64-bit builds - trying to understand root cause for message: "Error: Line starting 'Package: tools ...' is malformed!"
I would be "pleased" if you would try packages - i.e., none of "Toolbox" or Perzl rpm's. The iconv I supply might not be working as is (I will need to install a new system to check). However, this is why I have been testing with R-3.2.3 - to side-step the system library dependencies. re: xz - I have "installp" version - and any of my packages should work side-...

R, AIX 64-bit builds - trying to understand root cause for message: "Error: Line starting 'Package: tools ...' is malformed!"

I tried to bypass the check and build it anyway against the system one, but that fails as there is a iconv conversion further down the line that is not supported. Building iconv is a PITA because it conflicts with the system one s...

...dded: All are available via http:://www.aixtools.net (wiki interface) or http://download.aixtools.net (self-service). The AIXTOOLBOX approach uses rpm for packaging - which I did not understand when I got started several years back. And I am not switching to rpm - following in the footsteps of Perzl because: a) Michael Perzl does an excellent job of keeping the AIXTOOLBOX where it should be - no need to replicate that b) I hate the RPM dependency nightmare (e.g., installing three rpm -dev packages just to get 5 include files) c) The RPM.spec files often (well occaisionally, but once is once...

2.2.7 to 3.3.12 upgrade issue
Upgraded an AIX Server from AIX 5.3 TL3 with Samba 2.2.7 to AIX 7.1 TL3 with 3.3.12. Client uses AD authentication. Upgrade did not change smb.passwd or smb.conf. Windows users trying to mount a share are presented a request for their credentials; whether they supply the AD or AIX credentials, the access is denied - "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." The smbd and

R, AIX 64-bit builds - trying to understand root cause for message: "Error: Line starting 'Package: tools ...' is malformed!"
Michael, I'm using xlc + xlf - the exact flags are configure CC=xlc_r CXX=xlc++_r F77=xlf_r FC=xlf95_r LIBS='-L/opt/freeware/lib /opt/freeware/lib/libiconv.a -lpthread' --prefix=/opt/freeware CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/freeware/include with export OBJECT_MODE=64 in the env (and libiconv from perzl.org RPMs - iconv is a serious pain). I have changed the TRE typedef from "wint_t" to "unsigned int" since that is what the other platforms use anyway. On my AIX7 VM I'm running out of memory in xz when lazy-loading is enabled which his odd - the VM has 4Gb which one would...

Simon - which compiler)s) did you use: xlc and xlfortran, or gcc/gfortran? I have made some changes to configure(.ac) so maybe my problems are self-inflicted. But would be good to know what environment you are using. Thanks for looking - and
