Hi,
I'd like to accomplish te following but can't seem to find how:

Share 1 that is connected by our Windows clients, should NOT be writable
directly. This means, nobody (except a specified group/user?) should be
able to create a top-level folder or file in this share.
Write and execute rights through the subdir1 and subdir2 should however
be left alone and

Files get created as BUILTIN\administrators
Hi All,
I've got a problem on a Samba Active Directory domain controller. This
is the third controller in our network, and the only one with this
problem. When I try to create a file, it is created with this persmissions:
-rwxrwxr-x+ 1 BUILTIN\administrators users 0 dec 2 08:28 test*
On the other machines, it gets created as dirk.users, which is how I
would like it to work.
I am a domain admin. The 'normal' users have no problem.
I'm running samba 4.5.1-9.
Any Ideas?
Thank you in advanc...

mixed guest/domain user access to share
I'm having terrible trouble getting a share that 'anyone' can connect

that are access by athentication only.
smbclient will give me anon access to the share. Windows XP keeps

BUG: 2.2.6 and dos recusive filecopy
...c).
On all releases (up to, and including 2.2.5) a recursive xcopy (from
dos) copied all files normally.
When I upgraded to samba 2.2.6, the recursive xcopy (win98 version of
xcopy.exe, copying from a mapped drive) only copied about half the
files, skipping (for me, all had the same attributes/persmissions)
random files from random sub-directories. When I moved the directory i
was copying to another share, it copied only 11 files of about 50. I
later made a 'make revert', and with 2.2.5 everything was back to normal
and working. If I copied the files manually before starting the winxp

Weird permissions issues with samba shares and XFS
Hi,
We are trying to deploy samba sharing on Centos 7.4, linked to windows 2016
AD for authentication.
We are having an issue related to permissions where different directories
with seemingly the exact same permissions cannot all be accessed from
smbclient. I was hoping somebody could help me figuring this out.
We have the following structure:
1. one LVM2 volume on /dev/storage/test (XFS)

how to do security??
hey, i have maded some security in my website based on
http://www.chaconforcongress.com/accounts/login
Here they work with users, roles and persmission, and they check it like this,
user.has_permission(permission).
I have extended this to: users and groups with roles and permissions.
With permissions like "view records","edit records","delete records",...

some library calls from libusb to discover usb devices?? it appears
that it will only pay attention to /proc/bus/usb/XXX/YYY devices. since

I can use udev rules to fix the persmissions and newhidups will only
work if I run it as root. there are several things that could fix my
situation and i was hoping someone would know if any exist.

Your problem is the "SHARE" permission.
By default the SHARE permission is everybody Full controll

My guess..
/storage/test does not have the correct persmissions

Samba, ADS & Winbind Separator on CentOS 5.4
Hi!
I have a little problem with Samba. I have an ADS integrated CentOS
5.4 server. I had frequent access problem when M$ users create
directories and files. So i thought to force users' persmissions by way
of the "force user" parameter in smb.conf.
First problem is that the forced users i want to apply are ADS users
and named like "MYDOMAIN#Joe" in passwd file. When i use this name in
smb.conf, i get this error when i run testparm: "ERROR: the 'winbind

Group Permissions?
...on directory to one that user does not own, but is within the same
group as the owner and the directory is set with group write and execute
permissions. Rsync now gives errors like "failed to set times on "...
The files are still copied, but they seem to have somewhat randomly assigned
persmissions and some of the files are owned by the user calling rsync and some
are owned by the owner of the directory.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can set user and group ownership on any file or folder to a valid LDAP
SambaSAM account and set permissions accordingly and these persmissions have
the appropriate effect on user's access.
The PDC's name is SMB1, the Domain is BGS. If I run net getlocalsid and net

Smbldap-tools from Idealx.org works fine and I can add, modify and delete
