Changing windows file permsissions
I am using rsync to download a file from a vendor's server. I believe the
vendor site is a unix server but not 100% sure on that. The file is being
downloaded on windows 2003 R2 server.
Here is an example of the command line being used:
C:\Downloads\rsync\rsync.exe -i
--password-file=C:\Backend\rsync\password.txt -av
ssclient@vendor.site.net::scores/filename /Backend/VendorFiles/

Wrong file permissions in CentOS 7
...[root at server ~]# umask
0000
[root at server ~]# touch a
[root at server ~]# ls -l a
-r--r----- 1 root root 0 Oct 10 11:45 a
As a regular user:
[stern at server ~]$ umask
0000
[stern at server ~]$ touch b
[stern at server ~]$ ls -l b
-rw------- 1 stern stern 0 Oct 10 11:47 b
In both cases the permsissions should have been -rw-rw-rw-. What on
earth is going on, and how can I fix it?
Thanks,

Unable to set up home share correctly

Yes I did, but had a typo in the real domain name .... and this was
the problem :-[
Now I have access to the share configuration :-)
What's a little confusing:
"Share Permsissions" has the "Everyone" account already filled in with
"Full Control".
"Security" has "Everyone", "root", "ERSTELLER-BESITZER" (Creator Owner),
ERSTELLERGRUPPE (Creator Group) and "Domain Admins" accounts already
filled in...

Allow insecure wide links = yes, wide links =yes; but I still can't "see" files from links to NFS mounts using 3.6.15, after upgrading from 2.2.8a
...eparate server
which is mounted to the samba server via NFS;
mount -F nfs xraid:/Volumes/Sharing_RAID/Sharing /raid1
and my folder under this is linked to the samba share folder called
"biograph";
ln -s /raid1/Staff/Jordan /p3/biograph/Jordan
The configuration/permsissions/ownership for these folders hasn't changed,
and I could access these folders with no problems using 2.2.8a.
I have read many posts about the "allow insecure wide links" and I think I
have set the correct options for this in smb.conf, with allow insecure wide
links = yes, wide links...

Samba 4 AD DC "Element not found" error in Windows 8
Hi:
I've just configured a Samba 4 install as an AD DC, following the Wiki
page at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO
I've successfully joined a few machines to the domain, and am now
trying to add some simple shares.
When I add a share to smb.conf, it appears on client machines via
\\domain.example.com\sharename but trying to open any shares gives the
error

are you trying to say that I should install "Identity Management for
Unix" on a Windows Server 2012? If yes, I am afraid we have a
misunderstanding here: I don't use any Windows Server in my set-up.
I use a
