auth_socket_path permissiones
Hello,
I'm using dovecot 1.0 under debian etch.
The lda socket path is set to:
auth_socket_path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth
But this gives me the error:
net_connect(/var/spool/postfix/private/auth) failed: Permission denied
I suppose deliver is run as dovecot user.
I read about running deliver as root with the suid bit set. I'm not quite sure
if this is a good solution. Is there

Cannot get shares to show up
...nd postexec on each share
Example:
[Media]
comment = Media(Non-kid)!
path = /mnt/media1
read only = yes
browsable = no
valid users = @mediausers
preexec = /bin/mount /mnt/media1
postexec = /bin/umount /mnt/media1
I've done nothing with the /mnt/media1 folder so I expect my next issue will
be permissiones related but I would expect the shares to at least show up
for all users within the @mediausers group.
I'm using preexec ect from the cd-rom example contained within the default
smb.conf file.

Not sure about this, perhaps it is the same reason as above, but we
need more info, what is in the [global] section of the smb.conf ?

Setting up Profiles share... 777?!
...can read well the wiki, the permission needed are:
+ full control to everyone for the share permission
+ in the folder permission:
- special permission to create (and access) the folders to Domain Users
- full control to SYSTEM, CREATOR OWNER and Domain Admins.
But still plain POSIX (ugo) permissione have to permit access to the folder,
right? So i need to do:
chown <whatever>:'Domain Users' /srv/samba/profiles
chmod 770 /srv/samba/profiles
Right? If yes, it missed from the wiki... at least from:

dos filemode (security concern)
Hi,
I've a question about the 'dos filemode' option (samba 3.0.24, debian etch). I
want to use this option to allow group members with write access to add/change
permissions.
man smb.conf:
dos filemode (S)
only the owner of a file/directory is able to change the permissions on it.
However, this behavior is often confusing to DOS/Windows users. Enabling
this parameter allows a
