[LLVMdev] Use of LLVM in a Machine Simulator.
...machine simulator, e.g. processor, clock, RAM, UART, and other devices, where the processor will be one of several. It would take a block of target instructions, e.g. ARM, and produce LLVM to simulate those on the target machine state, and then JIT them to host instructions and then execute. The peripheral simulations would be in C and end up as LLVM too so optimisations could occur across the ARM->LLVM/peripheral->LLVM boundary. Does this sound a good fit so far? My main question relates to TableGen and decoding the target instructions. I was initially going to use something specific to the...

RFC: Contributing Bazel BUILD files in the "peripheral" support tier
....com/g/llvm-dev/c/u07o3QREVUg/> proposed contributing Bazel build files to the LLVM monorepo, supported *only* by interested community members and not to interfere with or affect the existing CMake configuration. As part of that conversation, it became clear that the LLVM policies for more "peripheral" components were not clearly documented. We now have a shiny new Support Policy <http://llvm.org/docs/SupportPolicy.html>. Thank you, Renato for moving that forward. Please take a look at it, if you haven't already. I would now like to re-raise the proposal to contribute Bazel build...

Domain users can't use local hardware peripherals
Hi! I wonder if there is a way to permit domain users to access hardware connected locally to their workstations (CD/DVD burner, scanner)? On Win2k and XP this only seems to be possible for local users - or am I missing something? (BTW my PDC runs Samba-3.0.5.) Thanks and regards, Uli. +-------------------------+ | Peter Ulrich Kruppa | | - Wuppertal - | |

[PATCH] virtio: Try to untangle DMA coherency
...tect the fastmodel, > > Surely, it puts a hardware id somewhere? I think you mean > fastmodel isn't always affected, right? I don't think there's a hardware ID. The thing is, the fastmodel is a toolkit for building all sorts of platforms: you can chop and change the CPUs, the peripherals, the memory, the interrupt controller, the interconnect etc. Pretty much everything can be customised. So, for any fastmodel configuration that places virtio upstream of the SMMU (which is common, because virtio is one of the few DMA-capable peripherals that the fastmodel supports), we need to do...
