Ressources needed (cpus, ram, etc.) for a Samba server
...re virtual machine, so I can easely configure this. I noticed also in some Samba configurations, parameter socket options is set with TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=819 Does it worth still setting this parameter on recent linux system ? According to the wiki https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Performance_Tuning : "The Samba team highly-recommends not setting the parameters described in this section without understanding the technical background and knowing the consequences. In most environments, setting these parameters or changing the defaults decreases the Samba network performance." Best...

Slow file listing : Debian Wheezy, Samba Version 3.6.6
Hi, I have come across something similar. We had a large directory (several 10s of thousand files) stored on a large Linux box which was migrated to a faster, but smaller memory (256 GiB -> 12 GiB) box. The Windows users recorded unacceptable access times and ultimately we had to: 1) Break the large directory into several smaller ones, and 2) Move to a larger memory (128 Gib) machine.

Performance issues since upgrading to 3.X to 4.X
Hello, I'm a bit desperate so I'm trying to seek help here. Many year ago, I built myself 2 file servers (5 disks enclosure for data, 2 disks enclosure for the OS) on a computer. It was running on Debian 7.11 for years without an issue and I was getting 75MB/95MB when transferring file from it to a Windows client, all having a 1gbs network card. https://i.ibb.co/N618Z4W/Debian-7.png
