Small Problem has me Pulling my Hair out
Hello,
I am sorry to write into you guys so late but I am baffled here. I had this
SAMBA server blasting along a month ago with a DOMAIN at my NOC in Austin.
Then I brought it to a new site and it no worky. Yes, the DOMAIN is
different and I have been battling all day to reconfigure this thing to the
domain. I have lost the battle and have reverted to basic configs which

Hi everyone,
Recently, I''ve been reading about different deployment environments for
rails and mongrel. One configuration I''ve started seeing is apache -> pen
-> mongrel cluster. See http://errtheblog.com/post/35 as an example.
Can someone explain to me the benefit of using Apache and Pen as opposed to
either using apache as a load balancer or pen by itself?

Missing ids in documentation
I notice some link that didn''t work in the documentation.
By closer inspection I found that some of the headlines missed
id-tags.
The following grep sequence find them.

compare a directory with itself -- differences found
well, when I tell rsync to compare my home directory with itself, it
reports many differences.
I'm using rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30.
I was hoping to use it to verify my backup.

Drawing thread not getting enough time from scheduler?
Need some assistance with animation again... When I run the drawing
code in a separate thread, it''s slow as heck. I think it may be
because the drawing thread isn''t getting enough time from the thread
scheduler.
I was able to reproduce the problem in my little sample program simply
by increasing the number of lines it draws per update. I''m lucky to
get one frame

I have been trying to do tukey's test to no avail. This is what I have
and the error produced:

Error in tukey.1(aov.pen, pen.df) : the model must be two-way
This is a two-way design. Therefore I am confused. Can anyone help?

Replace Pound/Pens/Balance with Ruby alternative
Right now you can use either Pens/Balance/Pound to put in front of some
Mongrels and it works really good (easy to setup too!). I got to
thinking, would it be possible to mimic what Pens/Balance/Pound does in
pure Ruby (yeah, I know the answer is yes)? I guess I''m looking for a

Help with functions as arguments
Hi,
I am trying to write a function which defines some arguments, then uses those arguments as arguments of other function calls. It's a bit tricky to explain, so a simple example will have to suffice. I imagine this has a simple solution, but perusing through environments and other help lists has not helped. Suppose I have two functions:

https load balancer for windows?
Hello,
I noticed that mongrel would work very nicely with something called Pound to
get https access to a rails app. However, I think Pound isn''t available for
the windows platform? Is there any other nice lightweight load balancer like
Pound that I could take a look at to get https with mongrel and rails?

...a plot as a PDF with different line types.

ices2/icecast2 on a pen 100
hello,
I got icecast2 and ices2 going on an old Pen 100 box. It's streaming a
lecture given by Richard Stallman at the University of Aberystwyth in
June 2002.
The files are found on http://www.6809.org.uk/audio/
I had put the sample rate down to 24000, as the Pen 100 seem not to be
able to handle anything about that. According ps aux, ices is taking 91
percent cpu. The box is working just

changing pen mode [or adjusting for overlapping points?]

Could someone explain the meaming of this error message from augPred:

Onenote pen button grayed out
I recently got Onenote 2007 working with wine, which would mark my full transition from windows (I used to reboot occasionally to use it), but I cant use the pen tool to draw. I have a tablet pc, so I really like using the pen. Whenever I click on it, the button grays out and nothing else happens.
Everything else works fine so far (even activation work) except the pen tool.
I've noticed this error message in the terminal, i don't know if it means anything

I''m using a cluster of mongrels behind an apache 1.3 proxy pass. I''ve
been passing the request to pen, which in turn balances the cluster of
mongrels. Now, I''d like to be able to use a different server to send
the static files created by the rails application, so I tried to
replace pen with nginx. Everything seems to work fine except the
environment variable REMOTE_ADDR.
