filename_convert_internal: checkname failed NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
Dear All I have a PCBSD machine with /media shared using samba. Any microsoft clients can successfully connect to /media and browse directories I have created there. When I plug in a usb device, I mount it into /media eg: one labelled "PENDRIVE" becomes /media/PENDRIVE Some clients can successfully read /media/PENDRIVE, others cannot. Although the clients that cannot view the directory, can successfully copy a file from there using the complete filename eg: if mapped as the U: drive on a microsoft win7 client I can copy u:\pendrive\...

Write to USB pendrives horribly slow
Hello there, since I installed CentOS6 few months ago (kept up-to-date using yum), I'm facing very poor performances when writing to USB pendrives. The hardware: a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop (Intel Core Duo P8600 @2.40Ghz), 4Go RAM + 4Go swap, several USB2 pendrives of various brands (less than old, all formatted as vfat). When I perform a copy (with cp or midnight commander, copying big AVI files between 300Mo to 1.4Go) to those devices,...

Multiboot pendrive with GPT - a tricky solution which could improve syslinux behavior
Hello! I'm posting some experiences with GRUB0/1 + sys/extlinux + MBR/GPT in a pendrive with 15 partitions. This could be helpful improving sys/extlinux. I did make a bootable pendrive with 14 distros using a GPT partition table and a tricky solution to let sys/extlinux boot from every partition chainloaded from GRUB (GRUB0 or GRUB1). Having a MBR schema, sys/extlinux can't be c...

Wine doesn't write in the USB pendrive
...e last version (v. 9) at home, in order I could get the latest one to use also at Office (where I don't have Administrator rights, neither can install Firefox 'natively'...); however, after reinstalling Wine 32 in my personal machine (running Mageia), Wine doesn't recognize the USB Pendrive ans 'writeable', then the update fails... How to set-up Wine accordingly to settle such issue?

USB bootable (using syslinux)
Hello! I just started using Linux and I like the possibilities it offers. I'm using Suse Linux (no MS Windows installed at all). I also discovered that syslinux is capable of making a USB pendrive bootable (with graphic menus). This is very nice. Since I'm a Windows user (up until now), I have some questions: 1 - I already downloaded syslinux 3.82 How do I install it on my pen drive so I can make it bootable? I mean in MS windows there's always a setup.exe or config.exe file! Wha...

USB Pendrive automounting
My USB Pendrive gets mounted everytime I put it on the USB port (/dev/sda on /media/usbdisk). This behaviour is the desired. Now I want the OS to automaticaly include the mount option iocharset=iso8859-1 everytime it mounts it. Is there a way to tell haldaemon (or other software) do this, instead of hand-editing...

Instead, in this other example: $ rsync --dry-run -vrt --delete --modify-window=1 file1 file2 file3 ... /mnt/pendrive/rodolfo I'm copying various files and directories from different places of my home directory to a directory named `rodolfo' which is on the pendrive. USB pendrive with IsoHybrid don't boot on MacBook Pro (EFI)
I'm developing my own Linux-kernel OS (https://github.com/NodeOS/NodeOS) and I have been able to build a live ISO using IsoHybrid. Point is, it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro (Quad-core, 2.66GHz, 8GB), only on BIOS-based PCs. rEFInd show a new "Legacy OS" entry for the pendrive, but after some seconds it shows the "Not found Operating System -- Insert boot disk and press any key" message. After that, I've tried with making the IsoHybrid EFI capable. I've followed the instructions at http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Isohybrid#UEFI and rEFInd show b...

Rodolfo Medina <rodolfo.medina at gmail.com> writes: > I'm new to use of Samba. I plugged a USB pendrive into router but don't know > how to mount it. Please help whoevere can. Finally I solved it. First of all, I had to set the USB drive as a `Managed partition' from the router web GUI. Secondly, its right address was `//192.168.1.2/Shared' and not `//192.168.1.1/USB_storage'....

Linux boot hangs after/during read of initrd.img
Precis: I?m trying to debug a problem with CentOS7 failing to install from an ISO written to a USB pendrive ? anyone got suggestions? What works ? installing on a modern, ?standard PC?; the pendrive image boots and installs as I expect What does not work ? same pendrive booting in an ATCA blade. What I?ve tried is? 1. Boot the standard CentOS7 minimal image. This seems to start but then just sit...
