MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocas...

<p>Max, would really appreciate if you could tell us a reproducable URL
where you see metadata actually working.

PeerCast development...
I know this isn't exactly concerning Icecast, but PeerCast shares some
similarities nonetheless...
Is there anyone who would be willing/capable to code a streamlined Ogg Vorbis
decoder for inclusion with the PeerCast client? The only thing preventing Ogg
Vorbis from wide use is the many software players that still don't support it

servers available _now_ .
Hello :-)
I had a look at the servers that can stream Theora.
I saw that ffmpeg was greatly appreciated.
What's your opinion ? Is there any chance that IceCast can do it (What
source would be used? Ices?) ?
I really want to support Xiph products.
I saw that page
http://www.linuxmafia.com/faq/Apps/AV/video-streaming-servers.html
but it's a bit old now, may be things have changed :-)
Well,

oddcast DSP is what you want, it supports live input (called Advanced Recording) and does support streaming to Peercast...It currently does not support Vorbis metadata for live recording (since metadata for vorbis streaming is inserted into the ogg stream, as opposed to how it's done for mp3 in which the metadata is updated on the server via URL calls)...
anyway, it's the closest thing to what you want, and...

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Maybe it works with WinAmp because peercast is received via a plugin
that supports this?
http://www.peercast.org/download.php
WinAmp 2.x/5.x:
- Self-extracting installer
- Installs WinAmp plugin client
- Enables peercast:// links
- Free. No adware/spyware
Allan, I assume you have a plugin installed for listening to
peercast?

playlist problem
Hi, I've had a few problems with broadcasting an icecast2 playlist with peercast. The problem is that when getting the m3u file, the response isn't terminiated with a newline (\n or \r\n). peercast doesn't particularily like this.
I've submitted a patch to peercast for this, but I wonder if icecast2 should add the \r\n to the end. Maybe there's some more buggy...

New feature : peercasting / anonymous relay / burst
...lay for anybody who needs my bandwidth. And
sometimes I would like to have relays for my extra listeners.
Of course not every server can be a relay, if the relay eats one place
in the stream and relays only for one listener it makes no sense so
some resource checkings are needed. It's a kind of peercasting that
allows a burst for a while.
If I could code I would make it, but I can't so I post it here :)
Anybody could stream to a lot a people if it can work.
What do you think?

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to get Metadata (Artist & Title) to display in WMP and RealOne
It seems to work in WinAMP5 and if a rebroadcast the stream via PeerCast

mmm... ok. well i got ices2 installed properly now (i hope) after some
effort and help (cheers Michael for the prompt response!).
the goal is to get ices2 to stream to a peercast client on port 2768. but
somehow things are still not going quite as planned. here is the log

[Re: icecast2 ??]
Dear list,
I agree with the main points that have been stated here lately -- icecast2
appears not ready for prime time (because of lack of web presence / tarball and
rpm downloads / some documentation on line) and icecast1 community needs a
support forum if this list no longer is one.
It would be so simple to spell out the statuses on www.icecast.org -- Status of
icecast1, status of

Problems connecting source
I wouldn't be too quick to boast that nearly all of Peercast-network users
utilize Oddcast... the last release of Peercast was about 6 months ago, and
the software is still quite buggy & non-optimized.
=P
However, I do agree that Oddcast is a good, reliable stream source.

Sounds like a good idea, no?
I'd like to have a tiny OS on a USB flash memory drive that boots up with
a network interface, collects information about available Freesbie
versions using a completely distributed peer-to-peer network a...

Theora streaming from windows
We run an icecast server that several people in Louisville use for audio streaming. A
number of people have expressed an interest in video streaming through it, too, but
cringe when I talk about setting up a linux server for streaming. Has anyone managed
to get streaming working from Windows media encoder using the directshow plug ins?
I'd like to be able to tell people they can encode the

...ng" AOL's bandwidth since I
think Nullsoft is not part of AOL anymore. About the new broadcasting
methods, is the multicast technology already available? I have heard only
few providers are equipped with multicast enabled routers. What about p2p
streaming, is it really reliable? When I see Peercast's statistics, only few
stations have more than 10 listeners currently connected... Do you think p2p
streaming could support an "unlimited" number of listeners or is it only a
utopia? Anyway, I am not sure many listeners would be attracted by p2p
streaming until a reliable Applet is av...

low bandwidth broadcasting using ices2
...m thinking of is to use ardour plus jack to mix
two (maybe more) input sources (live audio and recorded
tracks/programmes), then send the mixed audio to ices2 for streaming to
icecast2, using the jackified version of ices2. This is all working OK.
The problem is, I'm trying to set it up to use peercast peer to peer
streaming, so as to cut down the amount of bandwidth that the server
needs. This means every listener needs to have enough bandwidth to relay
at least one stream out as well as in. What I was thinking of is to
broadcast 2 ogg streams ; one at 64kbps stereo for broadband listeners,
and...
