Peculiar Problem with DNS
Hi, I have hit a very peculiar problem with DNS. We are using BIND9 as DNS with Samba (Ver 4.7.5). Off late we added a new A record into one of the Zones using RSAT. It is not visible either through RSAT or when we query using samba-tool. We search using RSAT or samba-tool, it results in '0' matches. However, when w...

peculiar matrices
As far as I can tell from reading The Fine Documentation (R Language Definition and Intro to R), matrices are supposed to be of homogeneous types. Yet giving matrix() an inhomogeneous list seems to work, although it produces a peculiar object: v = list(1:3,4,5,"a") m = matrix(v,nrow=2) m [,1] [,2] [1,] Integer,3 5 [2,] 4 "a" m[1,] [[1]] [1] 1 2 3 [[2]] [1] 3 (this is R 2.1.1, running under Linux) Should there be a check/error? Or is this just analogous to the joke about going to the...

Another peculiar behaviour, this time with BIND 9 DNS with DLZ
Hi, String of peculiar behavior continues... Samba Version 4.7.5, Bind Version 9.8 No. of Samba-AD-DC Servers : 4 (dc1, dc2, dc3 & dc4). All FSMO roles are on dc1. All the while all things were perfect. Yesterday, due to some reason, the BIND Service on dc2 stopped. This resulted in none of the other domain con...

Peculiar one way convesation fault with Asterisk.
...m. And, soon after I dial 4004 from 2000, if I try using 4004, it works fine too. Now if I leave it idle for a while and then try using 4004 to dial any number it doesn't work. The LCD on my soundpoint IP shows status as 'connecting' and then after a while gives up. Whats even more peculiar is, if I issue 'reload' command in my asterisk server console it starts working fine. Problem solving attempts: To find out more I started sniffing packets in asterisk server. In ethereal this is exactly what I see, Source Dest Info 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.10 SIP Request (blah...

Peculiar permission denied error.
..., I put in "path = /home" as a reality check, and remotely accessed \\<server.ip>\<folder>, and it succeeded. I only received an error message when trying to create a new folder. Peculiar Boot Failure
...(it was getting in the way of the fan). Curiously, if I enable the floppy disk, then: BIOS reports error (no floppy found) Kernel boots normally, although it does probe and recognize the floppy drive (the floppy drive is physically disconnected!) Apparently, floppy probing is more peculiar than I had ever imagined.... Tim Kientzle

windows/g95 peculiarity
I'm not looking for an answer here, this is just a report of a peculiar event I've observed and can reproduce. I'm developing a g95 (20050129) compiled package on windows xp pro using R-2.1.1, and gcc-3.4.2 (mingw special). An older version of the F95 package compiled and ran without problems. The new version of the package includes extensive changes in the co...

[OT] LaTeX peculiarities in Ubuntu 9.10 beta
I am running the beta test version of Ubuntu 9.10, x86_64 on a machine and encountered some peculiarities in LaTeX called through R-devel CMD texi2pdf file.tex The tilde character in the input, which should produce a non-breaking space, is now being rendered as a tilde. Does anyone know where I could begin exploring for explanations and/or workarounds?

Peculiarity in non-central qchisq for ncp > 294.92 ...
Hello all, Here's my query: Running R 1.6.2 on FreeBSD 5.0, and on WinXP, and I find that the following hangs the process: dchisq(alpha=0.01, df=1, ncp=295) but it does work for ncp < 294.92. Is this general? Best wishes to all, Andrew Andrew Robinson Ph: 208 885 7115 Department of Forest Resources Fa: 208 885 6226 University of Idaho E : andrewr at uidaho.edu PO

Peculiar Polycom IP6000 behavior
Here's a strange thing. I'm deploying Asterisk 1.6.2.9 with a pile of Cisco 79xx phones. For conference rooms we're using Polycom IP6000's. We bought two of them brand new. When I configure one phone with a username(SPIDR-3758)/password , it works fine. The other phone won't register with it's user(SPIDR-3749)/pass pair. When I try to use the first phone with the second

Peculiar behavior of attached objects
...rific. I quickly reproduced results with a few lines of R commands that 7 years ago I had to do with a larger fortran code and many calls to NAG routines. (I'm mostly a computational plasma physicist, but occasionally delve into statistical analysis of data.) But I've come accross a very peculiar behavior of attached objects that cost me hours of searching for a bug, and it would be nice if the R developers could implement a small change to make the language easier to use. The problem was originally buried in a much larger code, but I've boiled it down to a 6 line example: -----------...

a peculiar LVM failure on CentOS 6 run as a VMware 5.5 guest

It was running just fine until one day I decided to reboot it and it just would not boot up. Effectively, dracut failed to initialize the LVM, much like under the scenario described here: http://unix.stackexchange.c...
