Cycle/Partials issue
First off, I''m fairly new to ruby on rails so this may appear simple but I''m just learning the ropes :) So I have a simple blog app where a post has many comments. The ''show'' view for posts renders a partial for each comment the post has. The css class of the containing div element is cycled using cycle(). The partial code is, <% div_for(comment, :class

To jitter buffer or not to jitter buffer?
...t overall throughput is a lot better, the connections do seem to be more variable and have a tendency to stutter somewhat even with very little load on them. As a result, I'm considering reintroducing jitter buffering on our boxes now that everything's running 1.2 thoughout. Are there any pearls of wisdom out there on 1) whether enabling the jitter buffer is a good idea, and 2) what the recommended settings would be on an ADSL connection? I know that configuration is going to be a bit of a black art, as I'd imagine the "best" settings will be different for different users,...

vmail.cgi cannot read/delete messages
...cemail.c country club and found that I can modify it to force the issue by altering the directory and files as it "happens" when recording takes place. What is everybody else doing? I am, for sure, not the only one with this issue. It comes with the cgi territory. I am trying to keep my pearl vmail script with the -T switch. I can also modify with chmod here but I am going to force the issue, I prefer the "c" code. Regards, Uriel -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... They inspired me to try to build my own package for a few functions I use in teaching on my laptop running Windows XP . I read and reread "Writing R extensions" I installed Pearl and tried build on a modified package.skeleton. I fairly quickly worked out I needed to do things like setting Tmpdir as an environment variable, but then I got stuck and frustrated and gave up. I'm sure that with more time I would get things working, but I don't have more time. Could t...

Samba Faxing..........

I can print to Samba printers from Windows with no problems, and I can use the faxspool command to send postscript files as faxes from a Linux box. The only part I can't get to work is the vital link between the Samba printer and
