Help with Dell PE2950 and RAID5 setup
I've got a new PE2950 rack system with PERC controller and 6 drives set up contiguously as one RAID5 volume on the PERC controller. Using 64-bit CentOS 4.4, I partitioned for /boot having 100 Meg, swap having 2 gig, and / with the rest (removed LVM). After the install was complete, the system rebooted and just gave...

PE2950, RAID 0, failed disk
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with PERC 5/i, and 6 disks. Two disks have one logical volume via a hardware RAID 1 and consist of CentOS 5 64-bit; the remaining four comprise a logical volume via a hardware RAID 0, and is all user data. One drive on the RAID 0 went bad. I removed it while the system was on, tried a reboot, and the system hangs at RedHat Linux... Starting I tried to boot

Asterisk/Machine Hang after calling in/out ISDN
I am testing Asterisk 1.4.22, zaptel 1.4.10.1 and libpri 1.4.4 on RHEL5 on DELL PE2950 and using ISDN-10. I thought about cutting over to production tonight when I noticed a serious problem. SIP calls are fine but if I dialed to outside (Dial(Zap/g1)) a few times or someone called in a few times, Asterisk just froze (cannot enter anything on the CLI console) and then even the machin...

Is there real benefits on a SMP machine for Asterisk?
...the PowerEdge 2950 and 2970 models). I've chosen the 29xx line of servers for the redundant power supply, since it is really important to keep the uptime of the PBX as high as possible! At this point I was wondering if Asterisk gets real benefits on systems with several cores (up to 8 in Dell PE2950) for a system that will handle up to 35 simultaneous SIP call with 10 FXO ports and 2 FXS for analog phones/fax (Sangoma A400D PCI card). Thanks! Raul -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20071...

CPU enumeration
..., and SQL Server then uses all 8 cores. I understand that it is possible make some alterations using “xe vm-param-set uuid=<vm uuid> VCPUs-params:”. But I’m not finding a way to present this two socket server as such to the guest, rather than an 8-socket system. Running XCP 0.5.0 on a Dell PE2950 with dual E5410 Xeon processors. Thanks! Hardware infrastructure for email system
...r I have another SMTP (4 in parallel actually) server that receives and filters inbound mail through a company specific, proprietary filter before the mail hits the POP/IMAP server. LDAP & SMTP servers are ESXi VMs. So right now both dovecot and roundcube run on the same box which is a Dell PE2950 with dual quad-core Xeon, 16GB RAM and 6 1TB disks in RAID 6, so only local storage using maildir. So far it's been holding up fine, but it's beginning to show signs of overload now. I also expect an increase in users over the next few months up to somewhere between 10 - 20,000 mail bo...

SMART and Dell PowerEdge 2950?
I have CentOS 5 installed on a few Dell PE2950 systems. ? ?The SMART daemon claims the drives included with the server do not support SMART, which rather surprised me. What, then, are my options for monitoring the health of the server hard drives? ?It would be nice to have some service running I could email to myself on the status of each driv...

Increasing NFS Performance
...en doing simple 'ls' on an NFS mounted directory. The mounts are all done on the local LAN (100mbit FDX), all on the same broadcast domain, no routing. One of the clients is a physical CentOS 5 node, the rest (5-6 total) are OpenVZ containers also running CentOS 5. The NFS server is a Dell PE2950 loaded with 7.2K SATA drives. While the disks aren't exactly performance grade, the bottleneck does not seem to be the disks as access on the NFS server itself is 'normal'. Here are the items I've found so far that are told to increase performance. Since this is a production system...

OT: LSI SAS1068e / Perc6/iR RAID Health
...g drivers and Megaraid Storage Manager downloads via LSI's site, but I'd prefer not to install a bunch of crapware. All I need is the proper LSI daemon which exports info via SNMP. I've used check_sasraid_megaraid Nagios script [0] in the past for PERC5i and PERC6i controllers in Dell PE2950s. For 2950s I've only had to install sas_snmp-3.11-0003.i386.rpm from LSI to get rolling. I've tried installing parts from the MSM zip/tarball mess to install only the lsi_mrdsnmpd daemon (lsi_mrdsnmpagent). PERC5i = LSI 8048e (megaraid) PERC6i = LSI SAS 1078 (megaraid) SAS6/iR = LSI SAS...

vlans+bonding+bridging
hi, I have to configure Xen server and DomU''s which should be able to talk to different vlans - depending on services put on DomU''s. I would like to enslave 2 NICs via bond interface. Both NICs are on trunk ports which are configured in the same way, the same native vlan. I don''t know, if I have to add vlans tagging to eth* interfaces then enslave tagged eth*

Network performance problem with Xen 3.0.3 HVM/VT

This is a very big performance issue (for us), and we are reluctantly thinking about going back to vmware. Boot disk changes from /dev/sda during install to /dev/sdb on first boot
CentOS 4.6 x86_64, Dell PE2950 with DRAC5, onboard SAS RAID 1, 2 arrays. After booting installed system, /dev/sda exists but does not appear to be a hard disk. fdisk -l displays nothing for sda. CentOS 4.4 Installation on Dell poweredge 2900 raid 1 + raid 5 fail
Hi All, I install CentOS 4.4 without additional driver disk. When I partition the disk, I create nothing on the raid 5, and I just create " / " " /boot " and "swap" on the raid 1. And it works. When I create a mount point /storage on the raid 5 and create " / " " /boot " and "swap" on the raid 1. The error comes again, saying that

performance issues of gluster
hi, all: I'v got a Gluster testing, and found some performance issuse pertain to Gluster I built a ten-node Gluster enviroment, (3 X HP 380G5, 4 IBM 3650, 2 X HP C7000. 1 X DELL PE2950, all the network switch & NICs are all gigabit). And set up three volumes: a ten-brick distribute volume (ten-brick means this volumes resides on ten nodes, others are same), a five-brick distribute volume, a ten-brick distribute replica volume And I copied a folder ( including about 100 f...

Suggestions on XEN configuration with local and remote iSCSI
...arget which will be replicated in its own to a secondary iSCSI SAN (probably they will use DRBD). This target will be used, in our ideas, to replicate our own iSCSI san, that we are going to buy. We will probably build our iSCSI SAN with OpenFiler (impressions about this?) on a 2U server (i.e. PE2950, DL320, ...), 500GB sata disks and two dedicated NICs for the SAN. We will have also a L3 switch so we can partition network traffic for the SAN, as well. We will buy also two dual socket servers with 8 or 16 GB ram (already looking in the list for dual core vs quad core). We plan less than 16...

Problem with Full install of 5.2, missing rpm
...can see from the above pilot-link-devel is present in both i386 and x86_64 repos for 5.1 but only in the x86_64 repo for 5.2 It's not really a problem I can just leave out gnome-pilot-devel. Is this an oversight or is it deliberate. Thanks for all the good work. Now to get on to my rack of PE2950's Regards, Tony

What current Dell Systems are supported/work
Sorry for the repost... I don't think the first one posted.. posted to freebsd.stable, freebsd-current, Freebsd-hardware I checked the hardware in the online documentation manual/hardware It only lists the bits and peices of the machine say the hard drive controller and so forth. but doesn't give you a particular system to look at as a working machine with FreeBSD 6.2 does anybody
