glmnet
...y n_col and y is a vector of size n_row corresponding to the vector data. The number of n_col is much more larger than the number of n_row. I do the following:
fits = glmnet(x, y, family="multinomial")I have been following this article: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/glmnet/glmnet.pdfpage 8, but there are some unclear parts that I dont understand. The lambda variable only returns 100 and I exactly dont know what lambda represents. So, basically I would like to know how to get the coefficients weights and what exactly lambda is? how I can see the difference between predicted values a...

several postscript problems
Hello everyone,
I'm currently trying to export a couple of graphs to pdf . Postscript
would be fine too, but I'm using odd page dimensions, which seem to be
overwritten when using the "ps2pdf" command. I'm using the pdfpages
package in LaTeX to put 6 graphs onto one page (this is why it ought to
be a pdf in the end).
I have two problems:
1. I'm using "arrows" to add error bars to the plots and they come out
all misplaced. I've read in older posts that this might be solved using
Acrobat Reader,...

CRAN: How to list a non-Sweave doc under "Vignettes:" on package page?
Hi,
is it possible to have non-Sweave vignettes(*) in inst/doc/ be listed
under 'Downloads' on CRAN package pages? For instance, in my R.rsp
package I have a inst/doc/report.pdf (part of the source *.tar.gz)
that is not detected/listed. The PDF is not based on a Sweave
vignette but an *.tex.rsp vignette that is dynamically created via
inst/doc/Makefile. It is listed
(*) BTW, can the

adding "Page X of XX" to PDFs
Sorry, jumped into the thread too late. (On the other hand, once the
document gets complicated enough, it may be worth it in the long run to
convert to something that actually has a document-generating back-end,
rather than reinventing everything from scratch ...)

Is there some way to append to a pdf after its device has been closed?
Hello all,
My question has to do with writing to pdf/ps files. Currently, my R program
requires 100+ pdf devices to be open, which is over the limit of 64 devices
that can be open at the same time, causing R to throw an exception. My
problem could be solved if I could append to a pdf file after its initial
device has been closed, but so far I haven't been able to figure out a way
to do that.

adding "Page X of XX" to PDFs
You could easily omit the Page X of xX, but leave the timestamp
Then add Page X of XX programmatically using pdftools or some similar pdf
command line tools.

several Filled.contour plots on the same device...
hello -
a question about filled.contour plots, for which i haven't found a
response in previous posts - sorry if already treated.
i'd like to draw several filled.contour plots (that is, maps) on the same
device (a postscript file, actually). I know about layout(matrix) ,
split.screen or par(mfrow) : it works well for simple plots, but with
filled.contour plots, i get several pages
