[PATCH 08/16] btrfs: nuke pdflush from comments
From: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>
The pdflush thread is long gone, so this patch removes references to pdflush
from btrfs comments.

pdflush kernel thread pops up every 10 seconds or so and video decoding grinds to a halt for 1/2 a second
...nds, and it shows flush-8:16 where before it said
flush-253:0. 8 is scsi disk driver. So it's not an LVM thing...
maybe a kernel thing?
I suggested he try Fedora 14 beta, as it has a newer kernel.
Maybe this kernel thing is fixed in the newer kernel.
He also tried CentOS 5.5, and saw a "pdflush" process popping
up with the same frequency, and resulting in a similar glitch.
Any other suggestions?

Monitoring FS operations
Greetings All,
Without going into the specific reasons why I need to do so, is anyone
aware of a method (or tool) of watching real-time, human-readable (or
system call print) of ext3 filesystem operations on a mounted, active
filesystem?
Excuse me if this is a duplicate question but I was unable to find any
similar ones in the archives.
Thanks in advance!

Gigabit Throughput too low
Hi I was wondering if you ever got better performance out of your
Gigabit/IDE/Fc2?
I am facing a similar situation. I am running FC2 with Samba 3.x
My problem lies in not that I am limited to 10 MBytes per second
sustained. I think it's related to this pdflush and how it's buffers
are setup. (I have been doing some research and before 2.6 kernels
bdflush was the method that was used and it was tweakable. Have yet to
find anything on HOW to tweak pdflush.
My issue is that I can copy over the network at 15+ MBytes per second
but then after a few minu...

I don't have watchdog installed either.
It seems my load has also gone up
How would I fix this so there are not duplicates running?

Btrfs v0.16 released
Hello everyone,
Btrfs v0.16 is available for download, please see
http://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/ for download links and project
information.
v0.16 has a shiny new disk format, and is not compatible with
filesystems created by older Btrfs releases. But, it should be the
fastest Btrfs yet, with a wide variety of scalability fixes and new
features.

Hi,
Since upgrading to "2.6.18-194" I am getting odd messages in the logs.
Such as;

LVM performance with snapshots
...xample, I can write a 4 gigabyte file in about 16 seconds
with no snapshots in place, but the same file either takes about 4
minutes to write, or my systems seems to hang when a snapshot exists.
The top and iostat commands seem to show very high iowait times and
very low actual I/O throuhput, and pdflush seems to be quite busy
doing something. Removing the snapshot immediately brought
performance back to normal.
Are LVM snapshots not recommended with Centos, or are there
recommended ways to tune it for better performance?
Thanks for any input!

Samba Problem With Big File Transfer on Windows Client
I use fedora 7 and the last stable version of samba 3.0.25a-3
on an embedded linux system as a server and a windows xp.
I 'am using truecrypt and sharing de mount directory with the XP machine via
samba. Selniux is disabled.
Everything works well such as connection or small files transfers but we
have a
huge problem when we try to transfer a big file (~100 MB) from the client
(Windows) to the
