Password expiration and documentation problems
...em to accept dates outside the 1970-2038 range. While playing with this, I encountered some problems in the documentation. The most important is an error (I believe) in the HOWTO: at the end of the section about pdbedit (<http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/passdb.html#pdbeditthing>) an example is made where "maximum password age" should be set to 90 days and "minimum password age" to 7 days... but the commands shown set the time to 90 and 7 seconds, respectively! Then, I think the pdbedit man page should mention that, instead of using: >...

transfer users after samba upgrade to new server
Hi, I want to transfer all of my users from an older version of samba to a new one here. The old version is 3.0.28 and the file with user passwords is /etc/samba/smbpasswd and the new version is 3.6.5 and there does not seem to be that file anymore. I think the user info is now in /var/lib/samba/private/passdb.tdb /var/lib/samba/private/secrets.tdb My question is how to transport my users to

pdbedit and password expiration
...on a certain date. If that can't be done, the ability to set it to expire "now" would be my next choice. I have been attempting to use the --pwd-must-change-time switch of pdbedit as listed in the Samba docs at http://cr.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/passdb.html#pdbeditthing but it doesn't seem to work no matter how I attempt to use it. Furthermore, the man page and help options for pdbedit don't even mention this option. I am using tdbsam as the backend database and would prefer to stay with that as it seems like it should have the ability to do this....

Upgrading Samba
I have a fairly old Samba server, 3.0.25, on CentOS 4.8. I'd like to update it to something more modern, so I grabbed the "Enterprise Samba" 3.5 RPMs for RHEL, and went to work on a test machine. After upgrading via "rpm -U ./*.rpm", starting nmbd and smbd, I can no longer log in to the domain, I get: netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client
