anybody else had this problem since the CR updates?
I'm running Mate on my C7 boxen, a desktop and a netbook.\
Mate comes from epel, so it's probably not a CentOS problem, but lemme
ask here in case anybody else has seen it:
some tools (nm, pavucontrol, and possibly others I haven't noted down)
no longer have the correct formatting on screen. there are no backgrounds,
i.e., backgrounds that define areas of the screen by shading or borders.
clickable text tends to be jammed together. pavucontrol has no sliders
for any of the level controls.

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-)
I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now
tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the
repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader,
pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine,
xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I
used them happily.
I am mostly surprised with the absence of *any* torrent client, bar
the rtorrent (which doesn't have a man page and I have no idea how to
use it). A...

...of time on it and gotten nowhere:
I want to feed audio from a source (ipod, other player) into the audio
input on my C7 box via either the phone jack or an external USB sound
"card" I have, then I want to play it via the speakers connected to the
system.
I can find no way to do it with pavucontrol, nor the default mate
sound tool.
Using pavucontrol and the external USB sound "card" (quote marks
because it obviously isn't a "card") I can see the input coming
in, but I can't figure any way to send it back out to any output
device.
I'm not wedded to using pulse...

USB audio on Centos-7
...into the UFO202 to listen to audio
playing on the computer, but I cannot for the life of me figure out
how to feed audio into the UFO202 (via its line in RCA jacks) and
have it come out speakers or phones connected to the computer.
I've poked and proded at alsamixer, the mate sound tool, and pavucontrol.
No useful results.
Pavucontrol, in its input section, does show the device listed, and
it shows activity on its level mater when there is audio input via
the line in jacks on the UFO202. Disconnect the line input and the
activity ceases.
(Mate sound control also lists the device, but I don't...

Headphones volume control not working in CentOS 7
Hi all,
I hope someone could enlighten me...
How could I resolve the fact that the volume controls of all the
headphones I try on CentOS 7 are not working, they are OK on CentOS 6
but impossible to make them work on my Thinkpad Laptop with an iPhone
headphones or a Marshal Monitor plugged with a jack connector...
Those 2 headphones work correctly in CentOS 6...
What could I do to get the same

Are you, perchance, using Firefox-52? At version 52, they switched
Firefox to use Pulse instead of Alsa. So you'll probably need to
fire up pavucontrol and mess with its sliders to get firefox audio
working.
I'm on Centos-7.3, and when I switched from 7.2 I found that some
things now are controlled by pavucontrol, and not by the volume
control in the top panel (I'm using Mate, not Gnome,... Gah, how can
anyone stand Gnome 3.x??) It's...

On Centos-7, some apps use PulseAudioVolumeControl (pavucontrol)
instead of the one that defaults to the top panel. (I am running
Mate, not Gnome--yuck--so YMMV).
I wish there was a way to control all from a single place, but AFAICF
there isn't. for some things I use the one on the top panel (which is
Mate Volume Control) and for others I gotta start up pa...

7.3 and USB headphones
Hi all!
I wish to give huge thankyous to KB and all the others who worked
to get 7.3 out the door. Many thanks!
I have some good things and some bad. A good thing is that unlike
previous versions, when I plug in my USB headphones they are automatically
recognized and I get sound without having to change anything! (which is
a huge win from before when I had to mess with settings, sometimes for

Cannot get Sound-Output via pulseaudio
...scripts to run via libvirt.
It took some time but my first VM seems to work okay. My main problem is Sound.
I run a pulse audio service and when starting the vm via Commandline it sends sound to the pulseaudioserver just fine
However when i start the vm via libvirt i cannot get any sound output, pavucontrol shows no connected application.
When looking at the /var/log/libvirt/<vmname>.log i can see that the vm is started with ‚QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none‘ .
How can i set this to QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa ?
Hope someone might help me.
Cheers

pacmd command to switch outputs for an application?
just wondering if anyone has figured out how to make pacmd switch the
output of a certain application
(lets say chrome browser) from one output (speakers) to another (usb
headset).
I can easily do this with the pavucontrol program, but I cant figure out
how to make pacmd do it.. any ideas?

USB audio on Centos-7

Not sure about the other stuff but my USB dock's mic input shows up in
Audacity on Fedora 26 under the second drop down on the last row (next
to the little microphone icon).
In the passed I've had most luck with pavucontrol, since it was the
only one I could find that would allow me to turn on monitoring.
