Centos7 Net install on HP A1710N fails
Folks Just for laughs, I took an older 64-bit machine, HP Pavillion A1710N, and tried a net-install of Centos7. The installer complained that there was no network devices available. I then tried a Centos6 Netinstall disk, and it found the controller and worked fine. What should I do? I'd love to get C7 installed on it. David

[1/1] [gfxboot] align buffer used to read data from disk to a 512 byte boundary
The COM API provides a function to read from disk (int 22h, AX=07h) which needs a destination buffer aligned on a 512 byte boundary. gfxboot uses this function but doesn't ensure its data buffer is properly aligned. This leads to failures on a few machines (HP Pavillion dv5): gfxboot: isolinux: Disk error 09, AX = 424F, drive FE https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=48814 has a bit more details. This patch just makes sure the buffer used to read from disk is properly aligned, this fixes the boot failures on the aforementioned machines. Signed-off-by: Christop...

Wiki page request for HP Pavilion DV7-2250ED laptop
Hello, I'd like to add a wiki page for the HP Pavillion DV7-2250ED laptop. The proposed position would be http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-DV7-2250ed I'd like to add the steps needed to install, and what's needed to get wireless working (and anything else that pops up after that). Hi, I have a HP pavillion laptop zt1170 and I faced the same problem reported by, Greg Lonnon greg at lonnon.org 01 Jan 2003 11:08:20 -0700 This seems to be some problem with the HP bios. Since this laptop does not have a floppy drive it is almost impossible to install redhat 8.0. I managed to workaround this problem...

Trouble with WOW "Trouble finding sutible display device".
...86.pet" which was probably the wrong move but it was a pain to find a .pet for wine 1.2.2. Yes, I know that downloading WOW on a Puppy linux box is a little silly but I am also having trouble getting the Optical drive to work right for a different distro. I am running Lucid Puppy 5.2 on a HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop. I don't even know if I meet the min requirements for WOW: My graphics card is Intel Mobile GM965/GL960. Minimum requirements for wow are: NVIDIA? GeForce? FX or ATI Radeon? 9500 video card or better It would be great if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

iso 2.00 isolinux: Checksum error, sorry...
...nux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -R -J -V -T /path/to/cdimage -- At that point, I burned another cd using syslinux-1.60 debug, which had the same problems. All the burned CDs work on other machines CDROM drives. The machine in question is a laptop, HP Pavillion zt1000. It has a DVD/CDRW drive, a TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2102. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a workaround? Thanks, Greg -- Greg Lonnon <greg at lonnon.org>

[Bug 21536] New: Accelerated 2D Does Not Work On HP tx2000z (Geforce 6150 Go)
..., with version 1.5.3 of the X-server and fairly recent GIT builds of the nouveau driver and drm. (I tried these thinking that perhaps the standard F10 packages were not new enough). Currently running 2.6.28.7 SMP 64-bit kernel, but I've tried several other variants also. The machine is an HP Pavillion tx2000z laptop with an NV4E chipset (Geforce 6150 Go). 4GB of RAM, and an AMD Turion processor. I am running the x86_64 version of Fedora 10. As a longshot, I also downloaded a Fedora 11 Preview live CD, after hearing of their successful nouveau test day. I hoped the newer revision of the X ser...
