Static WINS entries
...e WINS database on a Samba nmbd running as a WINS server?
Alternativily could I get the WINS nmbd to use DNS for hostsnames it can't resolve using it's own database.
I have several NT servers that seem to just vanish from the db after a while. One of my 2.2.3a boxes also did this for a pastime. Whilst I can do nbtstat -RR on NT or restart the nmbd on Samba to put it back, it would be nice to be able to ensure they are always in the db.

...a locally compiled R deprives you of most of the benefits of using a
distribution (consistency, updates, etc..) ;
- locally compiled packages is some work, that should not be duplicated
if it can be avoided ;
- following Debian unstable is a career in itself (been there, done
that : not a decent pastime for a dental surgeon turned biostatistician
turned dental surgeon...).
So the right solution is probably to have this work done *once*, checked
seriously, then to have the resultant packages put in some public
repository (feisty-backports and lenny-proposed come to mind, but CRAN
is probably als...

UK -999 dialing issue
Hi Amit
OK, the majority of our calls go out via zaptel fxo and pstn lines.
When these are all busy, calls are routed via a VOIP provider here in
the UK. All activity is recorded in our logs, and I can find no trace
of either 999 or 112 (if since been reminded that in the UK, you can now
also use 112 which is consistent with continental Europe).

Some at 5:34 pm EST DAILY, all my call get disconnect.
I tried RE-INSTALLATION, I tried Reinstallation on a virgin HDD, but its
same.
I tried changing VOIP provider I tried changing Internet Provider..But no
help..
What could be the reason ?
