timeout and menu passwd in pxelinux
Hi, I am trying the simple menu passswd in syslinux 3.11, and it seems that if I set the timeout option, the menu passwd is ignored. For example: ----------- default menu.c32 timeout 70 prompt 0 noescape 1 MENU MARGIN 5 MENU MASTER PASSWD $4$x$03NXHMe7QS0Ukxlkyh684LkWdqY$ label local MENU DEFAULT # MENU HIDE MENU LABEL Local opera...

SWAT/md5/shadow/pam
...and samba SWAT works well. Swat is access able as root and as user. Changing the options in /etc/pam.d to use md5-hashes in shadow, SWAT denies all accesses after making a passwd for the affected user or root to activate the md5-hash in shadow. Deactivation the md5 option in the /etc/pam.d/files (passswd, login, other, samba), changing the md5-hash back by doing a passwd $user, and the user/root is accepted by SWAT. Due to the fact that i will not deactivate md5-hashes in shadow, i wish to 'teach' SWAT to accept the md5-passwords in shadow. Can anyone rebuild this problem ? PS: samba was c...

Possible Password Sync Solution!
...ve been reading many of password sync problems from both this list and the NTDOM list and have come up with a solution that seems secure enough although I had to modify some samba code to make it work. This potential solution is for sync from Unix to smbpasswd and has nothing to do with "unix passswd sync". What I've done is literally rewrite the unix "passwd" command to include a call to smbpasswd to update the Samba password table in the event we successfully change the Unix password. I'm running AIX 4.3.2 on an RS6K-H50, so there are some special password calls to up...

Authentication and Joining failing after a time.
I have a Samba Domain that did migration from: 3.0.0 -> 3.0.2 -> 3.0.2a ->3.0.4 It is a very healthy machine it is running on. A heavily updated RedHat 7.2 machine. I have rebuilt newer source SRPM to update it. Pretty much updated piece meal since forever, and probably is updated e"enough". It is lean, as I do not believe in Garbage installs. But, the point of this is:
