missing xen-utils binaries
You might realize I am digging into the details of the the debian Xen
packages - so I find some opportunities to optimize them, which I report
either here or as a bugreport.
This one I just watched in Ralph Passgang's 3.1 packages, but I saw the
same in the Debian packages(at least in stable), too:
look at
# for i in `ls /usr/lib/xen-3.1.0-1/bin`; do ls /usr/sbin/$i; done
(with the correct version string, I suppose)
And you'll see many xen standard binaries aren't linked into the path.

Repeated kernel "oops" / oom-killer with Ralph Passgang''s xen 3.0.0 Debian packages
Hi,
One of my servers has had its dom0 "oops" over and over twice in the
last week. Unfortunately this is newly deployed so I have no idea
if it is down to Xen or not.

dom0 kernel is a vanilla 2.6.12 with Ralph''s .6+xen kernel patch
applied. x86_32 sarge packages were used. The .config is

Xen in a routed network environment?
Hello,
I''m used to using Xen in a bridge mode where my dom0 and all domUs
are on the same layer 2 network. However now I have to set up a
server whose eth0 is on one network and the domUs will be on another
/29.
So, for example, if the eth0 of dom0 is 192.168.1.214/24, then I
have 10.1.1.0/29 (10.1.1.0 -> 10.1.1.7) routed to it for use in
domUs, how would I go about setting that up?

how to package hypervisor-pae?
Hi,
I have just looked at the xen source, because I want to finish my work from
yesterday and have the hypervisor-pae really build & packaged.
It seems so that we have two possibilities to do this:
1) create another dpatch that would patch xen/Makefile in order to have other
filenames for the hypervisor when the pae-flag is set.
the advanced would be, that if we use diffrent filenames

pkg-xen-changes: max. mailsize possible?
Is it possible to have a max. message size set for the automatic svn mails?
it doesn't make sense that the whole kernel patch is included in the report.
only files with less then maybe up to 100 hundred lines make sense.

the EXTRAVERSION problem in dh-kpatches...
... is actually old & very well known by the maintainer!
there is a bug report for exactly this that is 3 years and 124 days old!
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=165505
I can also add my report to this bug and mention that we need a fixed version
for our xen packages, but as it looks for me (at the moment) the maintainer
is not really interessted in getting this

No xen kernel image for k7 anymore!
Package: linux-source-2.6
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-11
Severity: important
Tag: etch
With 2.6.18-4 Debian switched from non-pae to pae-only xen kernels. This means
that xen is not useable anymore for many users, which were able to use
non-pae kernels without a problem for a long time till now.
In my opinion this is a critical issue, because it makes xen unusable for
about maybe 10-30% of all

Major problems with 2.0.7 and SATA drives
Hello everyone,
I''m hoping to find an answer to my problem here. Currently I''m installing
xen 2.0.7 on 30 dual opteron machines with 4GB memory. The machines have
Tyan K8SR as motherboard with Silicon Image 3114 chip sata controler and 2 x
300 GB Western Digital SATA drives. Each xen server has 5 domUs, where some
of them have high traffic and thus require high disk usage.

Xen 3.0.1 on Debian sarge kernel crash on Dual XEON Machine
...linux-xen0-2.6_2.6.12+xen3.0.1-0tha6_amd64.deb
(xen-linux-2.6.12.6-xen).
I successfully installed that combo on a Tyan GT20 Server with an
Athlon64 3000+ (Venice), 1GB RAM . Thats running fine, I made some
debootstrapped filebased debian sarge systems with xen-tools - no problem.
Thanks to Ralph Passgang for this nice compilation !
However this was only testing - My real machines are a twin of
Supermicro servers (Equipped with mainboard X6DHR-TG

Package: xen-hypervisor-3.0.3-1-i386-pae
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
Severity: minor
The package description reads:
This version of the hypervisor is built with PAE enabled, in order to
support systems with more than 4GB of memory. If you have less than
that you should probably choose the non -pae version.
That's not entirely true. I tried installing the non-pae version on my
