Windows XP profile problems
...missing the entire left side column. When I look at the size and number of files my original profile definitely is bigger and has more files, so evidently not all the profile gets copied. Could someone share the trick to getting the profile copied over just as it was? Thanks, Mike Partyka Stonepath Logistics Systems Administrator (651)405-4300 Desk (651)208-5734 Cell (651)405-4342 Fax

Windows ACL modify ability?
I have posted several questions now and have ben unsuccessful in getting any responses, so i thought i would take a different tack. I know adjusting permissions on Samba shares, through the Microsoft MMC is possible when you have POSIX ACL support compiled in your kernel. I don't think that level of control is necessary for me and short of recompiling the kernel for that support i have been

Samba PDC and logon.bat questions
...ally created a dir for my profile and after it had copied up I went to log back in and I got an error about my profile not being available and a new default profile was created on my workstation called username.000. Any idea what I did wrong that would have caused this? Thanks so much, Mike Partyka Stonepath Logistics Systems Administrator (651)405-4300 Desk (651)208-5734 Cell (651)405-4342 Fax

joined to ads, mapped permissions
I have joined samba to a 2003 active directory server. If a samba shared dir is owned by root, how does active directory manage it? more specifically, how are the permissions mapped? administrator to root? i have seen reference to a parameter in smb.conf to "username map", but i don't see reference to it in either of the John Terpstra Samba books so that can't be the bridge

Windows ACL adjustments, permission denied
...n entry in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file the equivalates root to administrator, so i thought that having the owner as root was acceptable, but i am guessing that the smbusers file only maps in one direction, from Unix ->Windows and not Windows -> Unix, because the solution was: #chown "MRPARTYKA/Administrator" /ftprooot Once i did this, i was able to change the ACL, all i wanted. Hope this saves someone some effort down the line. Thanks for the help i got from members of this list!

Usermap from Windows domain to UNIX
I believe you should have your domain name prepended to windows username, such as: root "DOMAIN\administrator" HTH Mike On 03-Jan-2006 12:52:56 CET, JKetabchy@swd-ag.de <JKetabchy@swd-ag.de> wrote: > > > > > > > Hello! > > I try to map users from Domain to a unix system with user map. > I have joined the Domain with net join. > i have a user

getent and wbinfo not returning expected results?
Hello, For some time now have been trying to connect a Samba-3.0.14a-0.4 server running on SuSE Ent 9 linux server to our Exchange 2003 (running on Server 2003 Std w/ SP1) server which is also the AD server for our domain. I can connect to the shares using the AD as the authentication source, so the basic functionality is there but some command output does not show in the way i expect
