New Users wont authenticate.
...tem takes the user, it exists in both PSSWD files, but won't
allow logging on from the Win9x box.
I look in /var/log/messages and it doesn't tell me anything, nor do my
etc/samba/log.smbd-nmbd files, is there a particular switch or configuration
in smb.conf that tells it to update the /etc/pamd/passdb file?
I feel this is one of those "cant see the forest for the trees" situations,
any assistance is appreciated.

Debugging Samba 4 AD Setup
We're using quite successfully a samba 4.1 AD setup authenticating user.
We have on an unregular basis
mails that can't be delivered because dovecot-pam fails to verify the
credentials. I'm trying to debug
this and set the loglevel up to 3.
I can see an error message being spammed in the log files and can't
figure out what causes this. I expect a configuration error somewhere

wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello,
I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member
server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make
two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a)
and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns
0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few
articles, but applying the various remedies offered has resulted in no
change.

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi,
Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with
winbind. For me
the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has
a realy
good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions
from NT/W2k
PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS.
Mayby the
ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support.

When I log on with an NT user to a Linux machine via winbind, I get
complaints about no home directory and wind up in / The docs don't

Can somebody give me hints what could be wrong?

Opieaccess file, is this normal?
Hi,
I'm trying to setup one-time passwords on freebsd5.2.1

opieaccess file determines if the user (coming from a specific host or

man file) is deny, I should not be

Changing Alignment of global variables in LLVM
If I know for sure I am accessing 32 byte chunks at a time, how can I go
about changing the alignment of @u?
Should I use DataLayout's reset method? I couldn't find a method to change
alignment of one global variable.
Thanks

What I need is to get the XP/2K/4.0 systems to see the samba shares and

I'm trying to set up a new fileshare, to replace an aging NT4 machine we've
been using for far too long.
I'd like to run Linux (RedHat 7.3) on the machine.
Basically, I'm trying to create a fileshare "files" that people can
transparently log in to from NT4 and Windows 2000 workstations. My boss has
approved the use of Linux for the server, but only if I can make it

[Bug 1346] New: PAM environment takes precedence over SendEnv

locale-sensitive or terminal sensitive might give incomprehensible
gibberish as output to the user). TERM is already managed in a special
way, but not LANG or LC_* variables.
Currently, the variables LANG and LC_* are set (in a default debian
installation) by pam (/etc/pamd.d/ssh) which in turn reads
/etc/environment and /etc/default/locale. It happens dans in session.c
(function do_child) the environment of the child process is set as

more variables (TERM, TZ, depending on the system), then use p...

...pam file need to be stored?
Currently all of my pam files are in /etc/pam.d and the bulk of which
reference the modules in /lib/security.
3) What does the name of the samba pam file have to be?
Version 2.0.8 used /etc/pam.d/samba, but the included pam files for
2.2.0 have names such as:
samba.pamd
samba.pamd.stack
There was no documentation that I could find that says whether or not
either of these files need to be renamed to samba. Regardless, I tried
both and neither case worked for any of the included pam files.
4) Does the smb.conf configuration for 2.2.0 have to be set up
