...homes with 'unix extensions = yes', and works as expected, at least
with some old lubuntu derivatives. Client side i use 'pam_mount'.
Now i'm working on a ubuntu mate derivative, and i've not found a way
to start the session properly in CIFS.
If i create a plain local home (pam_mkhome), session start as expected.
Client are in DHCP, so it is hard to use 'normal' NFSv3 mount, eg
security by IP.
I've looked around at NFSv4/Kerberos setup, but i've not found a
tutorial, or some documentation, that seems clear (at least to me).
Also, for NFSv3 i use autofs. Bett...

pam_mount in 'newer samba'...

Sep 5 12:38:11 pc1labinf17 kernel: [ 322.016522] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -2
clearly i've tried some vers= and sec= combination, with no clue.
If i use pam_mkhome (eg, i create the home instead of mountin it)
clearly i can login (so PAM, NSS/Winbind and kerberos are setup
correctly), and via nautilus i can mount the share, the system
does not ask the passord (so i suppose they use kerberos).
Some hint on how to debug this? Thanks.

can "template homedir" build paths based on user groups culled from getent groups?
...roups which each student belongs
to so I am hoping Samba can use that info to dynamically (i.e "on the
fly") create homedir that have paths based on group membership.
In the past (on other projects) we've used the global setting
"template homedir = " in conjunction with the pam_mkhome dir tool to
do something similar but it doesn't look like that "template homedir
=" can get information about groups.
How would folks suggest I go about this?
Thanks for your advice!

Help! Solaris 8 + winbindd
Hi.
Does anyone have samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 8 working with winbindd?
I have samba 2.2.2 installed and configured --with-winbind and have the
winbindd daemon running but the following does not work:
1. "getent passwd" Solaris command on returns local users (no Domain users)
2. winbindd authentication to the PDC is not occurring.
3. local users cannot change password since I modified the
