Unloking gnome keyring on login
...and I did find some help. All the articles though said to change /etc/pam.d/gdm (which I think is for the Gnome Desktop Manager). I did it anyway but no joy. I tried changin /etc/pam.d/login, and no joy. I'm becoming a bit desperate.
The changes I have done are to add
auth optional pam_keyring.so
(sometimes with try_first_pass)
and
session optional pam_keyring.so auto_start
(sometimes without auto_start)
All the time the gnome-keyring-daemon is not started. But even if I start it at login, with a new /etc/prodile.d/gnome-keyring-daemon.sh script which runs export `/usr/bin/gno...

I am having an issue I have not ran into before...
I set my box to "auto" login by changing the file:
more /etc/gdm/custom.conf
# GDM configuration storage
[daemon]
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=silentm
TimedLoginEnable=true
TimedLogin=silentm
TimedLoginDelay=0
[security]
[xdmcp]
[greeter]
[chooser]
[debug]

obtaining non-packaged software
I have been using Fedora on my home desktop for close to an year, and
I am happy with it, nevertheless I am considering switching to a
slower-moving distro.
CentOS + EPEL put together have less packages than Fedora. Moreover
RPM Fusion has fewer packages for EL than for Fedora. I am wondering
how can I install on my PC applications for which packages do not
exist from one of the above-mentioned
