suggestion - Password replication
Hi, I would find it very useful if puppet were able to replicate passwords for specified users from a master PC (the puppetmaster would do me fine, though I suspect this may not suit everyone). That would make changing passwords on my small Linux network a little easier. cheers John Dubery

Trimming the fat out of a Centos 4.4 Installation
Hi, just to avoid re-inventing the wheel, is there any document that can help me reduce even further a "minimum" installation of Centos 4.4 (BTW can you say 600mb is minimum)? I am in the process of creating a small Centos-4.4-based Asterisk box and I need to boot it from a CF card. Deleting useless packages will help me do what i want. Example: even a minimum install of Centos 4.4 (or

Issue with pam_winbind for MS AD authentication and module options

Manage unix users from AD
Hi, Starting a fresh new thread, the ones about sssd x winbind are getting boring, biased and personal. :) I'd like to bring this to an admin point-of-view to be more useful for other Samba users (aka admins). New ADS infrastructure with winbind - Which is the best ID-mapping: IDMAP_RID or IDMAP LDAP with ADS + SFU schema ?
A question for the best winbind SID-UID/GID mapping in our situation: I'm building a new infrastructure with Windows 2003SP1 ADS Domaincontrollers and some Debian Servers (File: Samba+NFS; Mail; Web; ....) and varios XP and Debian Clients. After reading Chapter 12. (Identity Mapping) in the Samba-HOWTO is IDMAP_RID in couple with winbind an easy way to solve the problem with syncr.

I have been studying how to implement single sign on using the Ubuntu way through this document: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SingleSignOn and I am wondering if I can do the same with samba4 where the
