Clamav and Postfix
...perhaps
comes before using the latest version of amavisd-new.
That being said, I'd like to ask if there are others out there on the
list using clamav and Postfix together on CentOS and if so, how are you
doing it and what did you have to do in order to get it working?
Thanks in advance,

Choice of FTP server
...am wondering if anyone on
the list has any practical experience with both and can give me some
insight as to whether it would be better to run vsftpd (more likely to
be updated after a security update via yum) versus pure-ftpd (very few
updates needed in it's history).
Thanks in advance,

Testing kernel and xfs/netatalk
...2: Does the same kernel include netatalk support? It would be easier to
leave the netatalk in place if that were so.
3: Should I just bite the bullet and get rid of the xfs? I'm not sure
what predicated the choice of filesystem in the first place.
Any thoughts/comments would be welcome,

Problem with openvpn and tun interface
...Both boxes are configured
with ntp and I've checked that the cert was working as far as openssl is
concerned.
Does anyone here run this configuration successfully? If so, was there
anything you needed to do outside of loading the rpm via yum from
rpmforge and setting up the keys/config?

Syslog
Something has killed any writes to /var/log/messages. Syslogd is
running. Has been off for some time and I just discovered it. Any
hints as to what / where to look since syslogd is running?

Mail server, IMAP question

My guess (you haven't provided logs or configuration information) is
that you have a misconfiguration of your mail delivery agent. It looks
like postfix is trying to deliver your mail to a directory that is
actually a file.
I'd troubleshoot that. If you get nowhere

pptp server tutorial
Hi there....
Has anyone seen a tutorial around for a pptp server (on the same server as
the firewall) for centos/rhel 4?
I have been following a few general tutorials for POPTOP, but nothing seems
to really work as of yet.
Thanks!

OK, I'll bite. I'm aware of how annoying it is to have someone peering
over your shoulder when you are in the middle of a crisis asking
questions, but I'm curious

pppd and radius
I've been googling, but after getting nowhere for a while I thought I'd
ask for a direction to head in. I am replacing a RH7.1 box that was
performing dial-in service using a pppd patched for radius support. I'd
prefer not to do things this way and would like to use a more easily
updated configuration.
What I need it to do is do auth against a radius server and support
windows

mppe support in kernel-2.6.9-42.0.3.EL
Hi all
I have installed pptpd on my server to run a vpn connection for some
clients, but I got this error in the log file
MPPE required, but kernel has no support.
Can anyone help me with getting this module for the 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL
kernel???
Thanks

Inherited an everything box
Hello Everyone:
I inherited a CentOS 4.x box that appears to have been installed with
the everything installation option. I would like to strip the box down
of all the unnecessary apps and streamline/secure it. Unfortunately, it
is a production box and it would be quite inconvenient to burn down and
rebuild. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this
conveniently with yum and

Forum utility, facility?
Decided for the first time to go look at the forum and see if it looked
useful. Can't decide. *Lots* of Qs with few responses.
Anyway, signed up. Maybe I can make some time 'cause some of those look
low-level enough for me to contribute a small amount.
BUT, I have one aggravation that I wonder if it can be changed. I wanted
to use the same e-mail there as I use n the lists. It

help locating how-to guide for centos, postfix, dovecot, clamav and spamassassin
I have tried searching google (found page 1 only in the cache),
howtoforge.com, linuxhelp.net (older postfix document), centos forums,
hughesjr forum and centos irc channel.
I was pointed to linuxhelp.net and at first thought that the howto in
the forums there was it. Unfortunately, I only glanced at the title when
I bookmarked it and when I got back home later that evening and

Saw this and thought warmly of everyone on the list
This type of thread always amazes me. With all of the work that the
CentOS team does (gratis) I sometimes wonder why they take the time to
respond to such ignorance and pigheadedness. Perhaps this is evidence
that producing a product like this takes enormous patience and thus
prepares them to deal with the Tuttle's of the world.
Good job guys,
Alex

yum problem after last kernel
Hello all, I've been googling and haven't found an answer. I have a
Centos 4.6 box that is having an issue since the last yum update. The
nss_ldap and kernel packages were the only packages installed/updated.
When I try to run yum I now receive:
[root at ns1 ~]# yum update
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:
