A 56,000 bits/sec = 7,000 bytes/sec.
MTU of an IP packet in most cases = 1500 bytes. With an IP header of 20
bytes and a TCP header of 20 bytes, assuming no options, that leaves
1,460 bytes for payload.
7,000 / 1,460 = 4.8 packest/sec.
4.8 pkts/sec * 40 bytes of header = 192 bytes/sec.
7,192 bytes / sec = 57,536 bits /sec.
All-in-all, the IP overhead accounts for an additional 3% with a 56kbps
stream. Take the overhead and multiply it by the number of
simultanenous clients.

Multi-frame packet support in opus_demo
Hello OPUS,
It appears to me that multi-frame packets are not supported by opus_demo.c (e.g. 30ms packest containing 3 10ms frames), can you confirm.
However RF6716 does support such packets.

smbclient failing due to switch MAC addr table timeout
...l PC's are connected through switches
(no routers).
Sometimes ago network admins started decreasing the MAC addr table timeout
in the switches setting it to 300 secs, this increased dramatically the
chances a MAC is not in the switch MAC table, this had some side-effects:
- you lose first ping packest (or first 2) when pinging an host whose MAC
addr is not in the switch MAC table
- smbclient will fail to transfer files since it will immediately exit after
failing to estabilish a connection
- other apps (ie: telnet) will somehow wait a bit and manage to make the
connection at the 1st attempt.

my question:
how is the exact formula to calculate bandwidth needed to upstream at given
bitrate to a certain number of simultaneous listeners ?
is it simply BANDWIDTH (bps) = BITRATE (bps) X LISTENERS ?

arp who-has packets not seen in Dom0 even by tcpdump
Hi all,
I''m running Xen-3.2 and linux-image-2.6.18 as Dom0 kernel on a VT-x
processor. The problem is that broadcast arp who-has packets are not
seen in Dom0 kernel. I''ve tried both precompiled debian kernel and
compiled latest one from sources as described at

There is no linux bridge invoked,
