Clarification in HowTos/PackageManagement/YumOnRHEL page
Hi, Just a doubt, in order for translation, when reading the sentence: ====> Once it is in place, put it in the SOURCES directory of your rpm build path, and rebuild the SRPM attached below. <==== I can't see that SRPM attached below. Could you help me to interpret this ?, please. Cheers. al.

HowTos/PackageManagement/Spacewalk
This Article describes installation of some packages from EPEL (section 6.1). Listed in the packages to include is java-1.6.0-openjdk*. I think this is not necessary anymore as java-1.6.0-openjdk* is part of CentOS 5 now. financial.com AG Munich head office/Hauptsitz M?nchen: Maria-Probst-Str. 19 | 80939 M?nchen | Germany Frankfurt branch office/Niederlassung Frankfurt: Messeturm |

Clarification in HowTos/MigrationGuide page
Hi, A little more of clarification :) ... In some wiki pages say that the protectbase and priorities yum plugins can not be used together. It seems that the next paragraph must be updated: ====> Always beware when using/mixing 3rd-party repos. The yum protectbase and/or priorities plugins are your friends. Although both can be used together, using protectbase is probably unnecessary if

centos wiki strangeness.
In preparing to answer a question about some yum undesired behavior, I wanted to reference fastest mirror info, but when I went to https://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/FastestMirror I find all the text has been squished to the right hand side of the page and made 1 word wide all the way down. The https://wiki.centos.org/FrontPage looks similar but perhaps it is a little better? Or is

What's wrong with yum-priorities?
"The upstream maintainer of yum, Seth Vidal, had the following to say about 'yum priorities' in September 2009: Gosh, I hope people do not set up yum priorities. There are so many things about priorities that make me cringe all over. It could just be that it reminds me of apt 'pinning' and that makes me want to hurl." This note was placed on the wiki

how to protect RT repository?
I'm following the instructions on this URL http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/RT_3.4.x_On_CentOS_4.x and came across the part that said "WARNING: RT overwrites some packages from the base distribution, especially mod_perl" How exactly do I "protect" the RT repository? It links to the "ProtectBase" program http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/ProtectBase

recommended way to install source rpms?
yes, i've read the online docs and followed a link or two to find a simple way to do this, such as: http://sourceware.org/systemtap/wiki/SystemTapOnCentOS so, these days, is that the canonical way to download source rpms? now, note that i'm not arguing about whether this is a good idea. in my circumstances, i want the ability to just "yum download" source rpms so that i can

Mass "require"s
Hi there, I want to manage some files with puppet that control the installation of packages in Gentoo (/etc/make.conf, /etc/portage/*). These files must be downloaded to the client before any package resource is processed, so they are installed correctly. Is there any way to do this? Possible solutions: 1. Include in *every* package require => [ list of files ] inside a case statement, so

wiki contribution
Hi, I wanted to add a few notes in the wiki on the fastestmirror plugin on how you can add exclude info in the fastestmirror.conf file. This became important because amazingly ucalgary.ca shows up as a fastestmirror for servers I have in both Nevada and New York. However, the mirror is horribly slow for actual downloads and frequently times out. So, I just want to add info on how to add the
