Clarification in HowTos/PackageManagement/YumOnRHEL page
Hi,
Just a doubt, in order for translation, when reading the sentence:
====>
Once it is in place, put it in the SOURCES directory of your rpm build
path, and rebuild the SRPM attached below.
<====
I can't see that SRPM attached below. Could you help me to interpret
this ?, please.
Cheers.

HowTos/PackageManagement/Spacewalk
This Article describes installation of some packages from EPEL (section
6.1). Listed in the packages to include is java-1.6.0-openjdk*. I think
this is not necessary anymore as java-1.6.0-openjdk* is part of CentOS 5
now.

Clarification in HowTos/MigrationGuide page
...re
configured properly. See
Using_protectbase_and_fastestmirror_yum_plugins and
yum-plugin-priorities.
<====
See where it says --- Although both can be used together --- .
Other things to note here are:
- the link to yum-plugin-priorities page has no information, maybe
it could be pointed to PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities page.
- the large Using_protectbase_and_fastestmirror_yum_plugins link
maybe could be replaced by two small links to the corresponding plugin
pages or just the yum's wiki page ?
What do you think ?
Thanks guys,

centos wiki strangeness.
In preparing to answer a question about some yum undesired behavior, I wanted to reference fastest mirror info, but when I went to
https://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/FastestMirror
I find all the text has been squished to the right hand side of the page and made 1 word wide all the way down.
The https://wiki.centos.org/FrontPage looks similar but perhaps it is a little better?
Or is this an issue of looking at it with IE?

What's wrong with yum-priorities?
...#39;yum priorities' in September 2009:
Gosh, I hope people do not set up yum priorities. There are so many things
about priorities that make me cringe all over. It could just be that it
reminds me of apt 'pinning' and that makes me want to hurl."
This note was placed on the wiki (PackageManagement/Yum?Priorities)
without any explanation why yum-priorities isn't a good idea.
yum-priorities doesn't appear in RHEL 5.4 but protectbase does. Is that
the better choice and if so why?
Thanks,
Dennisk

Using CentOS repos in a RHEL machine
Hi
I have 2 machines with RHEL 5.2 and I would like to use CentOS repos. I
would like to know if the document "Using CentOS Repositories on RHEL
Machines"[1] can be used in CentOS 5.2 without too much modifications.
Thanks

how to protect RT repository?
...s.org/HowTos/RT_3.4.x_On_CentOS_4.x
and came across the part that said
"WARNING: RT overwrites some packages from the base distribution,
especially mod_perl"
How exactly do I "protect" the RT repository?
It links to the "ProtectBase" program
http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/ProtectBase
...but what do I mod to protect this RT repository?

recommended way to install source rpms?
...have my students poke around in a source rpm and
learn how to build one, nothing more.
so, is that reasonable? to just manually add an extra repo file
according to that link above (which appears to work perfectly well).
frankly, the wiki page on downloading from source:
http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/SourceInstalls
seems just a touch on the hysterical side. i don't disagree that
installing packages from the source rpm is probably a questionable
idea. but that doesn't justify simply not explaining how to do it
easily.
my plan is to install yum-utils to get yumdownloader, add the re...

Mass "require"s
Hi there,
I want to manage some files with puppet that control the installation of
packages in Gentoo (/etc/make.conf, /etc/portage/*). These files must be
downloaded to the client before any package resource is processed, so they
are installed correctly. Is there any way to do this? Possible solutions:
1. Include in *every* package require => [ list of files ] inside a case
statement, so

Repo order - priority plugins
Guys, what is the best way of arranging the repos with regards to their priority? Any ideas, especially for all non base ones?
/etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo - priority = 1, 2
/etc/yum.repos.d/atrpms.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/kbs-extras.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/kbs-misc.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo
How would we position dags repo?

binary R packages for GNU/Linux
L.S.
AFAICS the Writing R Extensions and R Installation and Administration manuals do not explicitly discuss binary R packages on GNU/Linux. Only installation from source is mentioned (https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Installing-packages-1)
and when discussing repository layouts (https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Setting-up-a-package-repository) no mention is
