directing print.packageInfo to a file
There was a discussion on r-help of getting the output from
print.packageInfo into a file. Spencer and I have added a file=
argument to print.packageInfo for consideration in R. Had this
been available it would have simplified the answer to that
thread. If the file= argument is used then the packageInfo
information is sent to the file specified rather than displayed

help(package)->sink()
I wanted to direct packageInfo to a file, so I could add comments,
e.g., in MS Word. The following command stored the desired information
in an object:
mclustInfo <- help(package="mclust")
Then "mclustInfo" displays it on my screen. To direct it to a
file, I tried the following:...

R 3.4.0 RPMS
Dear Tom,
I see that RPMS for R 3.4.0 are not successfully built on Fedora, nor
on RHEL 7.
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=1230
When I build with mock on Fedora 25 I also get a build failure. R is
not able to establish the time zone inside the chroot and this triggers
a regression tests which is new in R 3.4.0. Specifically, in file
tests/reg-tests-1d.R this test fails:

thus showing up under /virt/kvm-common on the mirrors.
Is there any particular reason why this is happening? If possible, I can
certainly provide some testing to get this moving along.
Thank you!

Hi,
The client seems to have been built for EPEL 9 Next, but not as yet for EPEL 9.
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/boinc-client
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=5978
You can file an issue for the package to be branched and built for EPEL9.

CentOS9 Stream - boinc client??
I have been running boinc client on CentOS7 hosts for some years. C7 is
getting close to end of life. Time to upgrade to C9 ...
But I cannot find a package for the boinc client. "dnf search boinc"
returns nothing.
I have enabled both EPEL and RPMFusion repositories.
Is there a boinc client package for CentOS9 Stream?

Maria 10 breaks unixodbc mysql connector
I recently installed mariadb-server 10.1 by adding the following repository:
baseurl = http://yum.mariadb.org/10.1/centos7-amd64
...all was well until we had a power failure and upon rebooting unixodbc
was segfaulting. Once I did a yum undo, the mysql odbc driver was
functional.
I traced it to the following:

Beta CentOS 7 Xen packages available
Hi Thomas,
This may be old news at this point, but I had 100% identical behavior to yours when I tried virtx7-44-testing.
After looking around a bit I tried "virtx7-44-candidate", in a sibling directory to virtx7-44-testing. It has a more
recent date, so I tried with that and it works fine. It resolves the issues listed in your email from 7/7/2015.
I am now looking for a

Abby,
Which version of Fedora are you on?
The Fedora RPM build system for R:
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=1230
would seem to suggest that R 3.6.2 may not be available for Fedora 29 or earlier, which is not a surprise, given the rapid update cycle used on Fedora.
R 3.6.2 is available for Fedora 30, 31 and 32 per the above page.
If you are on Fedora >=30, you might check your yum repo to...
