Does VT-d work on Asus P5Q-EM?
I searched the net and I found this. So, it looks like it doesn''t quite work.
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2009-04/msg00382.html
Does it work now? Also, what is RMRR? I guess Asus doesn''t support Linux?

Resilver/scrub times?
...he "big jump" and build a ZFS home filer (although it
might also do "other work" like caching DNS, mail, usenet, bittorent and so
forth). YAY! I wonder if anyone can shed some light on how long a pool scrub
would take on a fairly decent rig. These are the specs as-ordered:
Asus P5Q-EM mainboard
Core2 Quad 2.83 GHZ
8GB DDR2/80
OS:
2 x SSD''s in RAID 0 (brand/size not decided on yet, but they will definitely
be some flavor of SSD)
Data:
4 x 1TB Samsung Spin Point 7200 RPM 32MB cache SATA HD''s (RAIDZ)
Data payload initially will be around 550GB or so, (before...

Has anyone used a Dell with a PERC H310?
...c
sheets that the card runs an LSISAS2008 chip, so chances are that
standard LSI firmware will work on it. I can send you all the required
bits to do the reflash, if you like."
I got Dell Perc H310 controller for do-it-yourself experiments, I tried to run it on non-Dell PC platforms like Asus P5Q and Foxconn G31MX. Without success.
I will appreciate very much any hint how to get LSI firmware and reflash Dell H310.
Best Regards,
Andrzej Sochon

Hi I've just built a new Ubuntu 9.04 system on an Asus P5Q-EM board (intel G45/X4500) with E8400 Core Duo 2 chip.
I installed WINE and then foobar2000 but notice that the explorer tree in the Album List and Preferences window quite often become corrupt.

[gPXE] localboot 0 hang on some machines with gpxelinux.0
...use chain.c32 as a workaround.
There is an open bug report in etherboot's bugtracking system:
http://support.etherboot.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=26
I recently switched from pxelinux.0 to gpxelinux.0 to use http
transfers. On newer machines, mainly with AMI bioses (Lenovo M58e,
Asus P5Q, Asus P5G41-MLE) localboot 0 hangs the machine at PXE-M0F
Exiting PXE, and localboot -1 will crash most older machines. And to
top it off, the chain.c32 crashes on some HP machines (dc5100 SFF).
For now, my fix is to filter out localboot 0-incompatible machine in a
lua script by looking up DMI inf...

Low cost additional storage on a Samba server
Hi,
At my client, I installed Samba v3
on a Linux box (Centos 4) with a NT style domain to act as a file server (about 50 Windows clients).
It's been running fine for a few years now.
It's about to run out of disk space.
I was looking for a low cost solution and came across the low-cost NAS that are available now for the soho market.
The problem is that some support only smb file
