HVM guest support unavailable
Hi, when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS. According to the xen user manual the package dev86 is needed. I am using Ubuntu 7.10. There is no dev86 package, but bin86 and bcc should work according to http://lists.xe...

Nouveau support for GeForce GT 730 or GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon R7 240 and AMD ATI RADEON R7 260X ??
...don't Just Work (tm), AMD has full-time employees (plural) working on > various aspects of the driver, and those employees are armed with > documentation and access to hardware engineers. > If I were betting on a team, I'd definitely bet on the AMD one :) Well, my motherboard is P5E-E SLI with Chipset: North Bridge: NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI (C55) South Bridge: NVIDIA nForce 430i (MPC 51) Expansion slots: 2 x PCI Express x16 slots with SLI support 1x PCI Express x1 slot 2x PCI slots (PCI 2.2) So can be used on this motherboard AMD Radeon graphics cards at all? If yes, does nou...

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
...of good reports of the ICH 7/8/9 chipsets that support AHCI and no negatives. The only negative on the Intel side seems to be the lack of ECC memory outside of expensive server mobos. As things stand, I am leaning towards a P35/ICH9 or P45/ICH10 setup. In particular, I am considering either the P5E-VM HDMI for a small integrated solution or the GA-EP45-UD3P for something with greater expandability. So, my questions: - Has the MCP55 copy/fs lockup bug been fixed yet? - Have the Nvidia 750a driver issues been resolved? - Are the AMD southbridges still in the not-recomemded category? - Are...

VT-d success - passing PCI TV tuner to Windows DomU
Hi all, Thought I''d share my success with VT-d. I picked up an Asus P5E-VM DO motherboard as it was relatively cheap and had an extra PCI slot compared to the Intel Q35 board. The people on #xen IRC were very helpful. I wasted 2 days trying to get things working on Ubuntu and OpenSUSE with forward patched versions of Xen for newer kernels. Ended up using CentOS 5.1 whi...

stubdom and VT-d passthrough? CPUID?
Hi all, I recently upgraded my Xen 3.2.1 to 3.3.1 on Centos 5.2. Everything seems to have gone pretty smoothly except I have a few issues. My system specs are: 4GB RAM Q6600 quad core Intel CPU P5E-VM DO Q35 Intel mobo (VT-d enabled) Skystar2 DVB PCI card passed through to HVM DomU HVM Windows XP SP3 DomU 1. When I restart my DomU, it shuts down and turns into Domain-Unnamed but doesn''t restart. I did notice it restarts when using a stubdom however. I suspect it may have to do with...

[fdo] Intel G35 / X3500 video tearing
I've recently set up a system built on an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI motherboard running Ubuntu 7.10 and I'm experiencing some very noticeable tearing during video playback with mplayer. I have read some discussion about video tearing with other Intel chipsets in the mailing list a while back but hadn't heard much about it lately. I've experime...

[VT-D]iommu.c:775: iommu_page_fault: iommu->reg = ffff828bfff57000
Hello, I have been working sometime now on getting a HVM accepting a PCI card from the host. As was said in the VT-D wiki I bought an ASUS P5E VM DO motherboard (rel 0803) which has the VT-D option in the bios. I want to pass a Hauppauge PVR 500 card to a virtual machine running LinuxMCE. After first trying XEN 3.2.1 which did not enable the "VT-D virtualisation" bit in xm dmesg, i upgraded the system to run XEN 3.3 which ended...

Vt-d not working with 3.4.1
Hi folks, currently I try to setup a new xen host v3.4.1 on top of a Asus P5E-VM DO (latest BIOS, Vt-d capable and enabled in BIOS) to migrate my extisting HVMs (Win2k3 server) running on Xen v3.3.0 to a new home. I want to switch over to 3.4.1 to (hopefully!) passthrough my ISDN board to a HVM domU. Unfortunate there seem some issue with the VT-d DMAR tables which is beyond...

pv_ops dom0 testing
I am trying to get a pv_ops dom0 working for testing, but I am running into an elf_init error: (XEN) *** LOADING DOMAIN 0 *** (XEN) elf_init: not an ELF binary Full output attached. >From what I have read on the mailing lists, it seems that it is usually a problem with either grub or a corrupt dom0 kernel.
