(HELLLP!) Samba-2.0.3 + NT4sp4 + domain
Hello, Here's the backgroup: - Samba 2.0.3 - Samba is domain controller - Win9x machines log on to domain just fine - PROBLEM: WinNT sp4 machine (name: LR-P400) cannot join domain Other relevant info: - smb.conf: domain logons = yes - smb.conf: encrypt passwords = yes - smb.conf: security = user - even tried EnablePlainTextPassword registry mod on the NT machine My goal is to have all machines, including the new NT beast, log on to 'DOMAIN'...

Bug when using /dev/cciss/c0d2 as mdt/ost
I am trying to build lustre-1.6.6 against the pre-patched kernel downloaded from SUN. But as written in Operations manual, it creates rpms for 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5_lustrecustom. Is there a way to ask it not to append custom as extraversion. Running kernel is 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5_lustre.1.6.6smp. -- Regards-- Rishi Pathak National PARAM Supercomputing Facility Center for Development of Advanced

More than 2TB RAID...
Hi, I just received a new server (HP DL180G5) with 12x 1TB HDs and I bumped into fdisks 2TB limits... Since this is an entry level server, I can't use the classic HP bootable utilities to create smaller volumes et can only create a big RAID6. I found out that: using parted, labelling it gpt and creating the partitions would do the trick. But, what about grub? I read that it does not support

Kernel panic in ext3:dx_probe, help needed
This may or may not be ext3 related but I am trying to find any pointers which might help me. I got a number of HP Proliant DL380 g5 with a P400 controller and also two qla2400 cards. The OS is RedHat EL4 U5 x86_64. Every time during reboot these systems panic after the last umount and I believe before the cciss driver is getting unloaded. The last messages I am able to see are: md: stopping all md devices. md: md0 switched to read-only...

Had it with Dell Garbage - HP Question
...a bit more, but I expect that of my servers versus desktop boxes. I myself use RAID5 in my DL385 G1's (AMD Opteron), which hold up to six Ultra 320 SCSI drives, on a HP SmartArray controller (64MB of cache though....need to upgrade that). The DL320 is a RAID1 on 2x 10k rpm SAS drives, on a...P400 I think w/ 256MB of cache. All battery backed. OS Support is great so far. Just check HP's site for the "Proliant Support Packs" specific to an OS, as they sometimes provide better drivers than what ships stock w/ the OS (this is especially true for NetWare). --J -----Original...

SAS Controllers
Hi All, first time post so please excuse any blunders We are specifying two servers using supermicro X7DBE+ MB and want to add on a SAS controller for Raid 10. We want to use the CentOS 4.4 X86_64 distro. We are currently considering an Intel CC SRCSAS144E SAS Raid Controller for the servers using 4 Fujitsu 147 GB SAS HDD, and a Adaptec SASC RAID 4805 8-port for the server using 6 Fujitsu

Backups solution from WinDoze to linux
My manager just tasked me at looking at this, for one team we're supporting. Now, he'd been thinking of bacula, but I see their Windows binaries are now not-free, so I'm looking around. IIRC, Les thinks highly of backuppc; comments on that, or other packaged solutions? mark
