class exceeds its ceil
Hi,
I have a setup like this:
class 1:1 rate 7600kbit (on a imq device)

|\class 1:10 rate 100kbit ceil 5600kbit prio 7 (here goes p2p
traffic)

My problem is: the 1:10 class consumes the w...

Scalability
Hello everyone,
I want an opinion from people who tryed different matching modules to
match diferent types of traffic, especially p2p ones.
I would like to hear which scales better as CPU usage and latency :
ipp2p, iptables-p2p or l7-filter with the p2p patterns. I want to use
one of them to block most of p2p (except maybe dc++ and emule which i
want to shape). I would use the matching rules in mangle table, i hope
there is a way...

Detecting p2p traffic
After varying degrees of success with p2p detection modules, I would like to
write the following rules using iptables to reliably identify p2p traffic:
1. If a host on the network has 5 or more simutaneous tcp connections to ports
above 1024, mark all connections to ports 1024 and above as 60.
2. If a host has received (or sent) UDP pack...

bridge and ipp2p question
Hi all !!!
I have a firewall bridge (not router) with two nics that filter p2p with ipp2p.
All works fine but now I need to add a third nic to route all p2p traffic
through this nic.
It is that possible with a bridge ?
Later (with other server) connect to this nic I do loading balancing
with two adsl lines to route all p2p traffic.
Any hint ?
Any howto ?
Thanks in ad...

[PATCH v1 0/4] GPU Direct RDMA (P2P DMA) for Device Private Pages
From: Yonatan Maman <Ymaman at Nvidia.com>
This patch series aims to enable Peer-to-Peer (P2P) DMA access in
GPU-centric applications that utilize RDMA and private device pages. This
enhancement is crucial for minimizing data transfer overhead by allowing
the GPU to directly expose device private page data to devices such as
NICs, eliminating the need to traverse system RAM, which is the na...

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi
I believe that whole question is in topic.
Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted?
Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default.
Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic.
Thanks in advance.

infinite amount of data for HTB burst
...ities, AFAIK.)
This is what I''d like to do:
(1) desktop-to-inet traffic should be favored over
desktop-to-laptop traffic (since the former has much lower
throughput (256kbit/s vs. cca. 500kbyte/s) and higher
latency)
(2) on the desktop, a special restricted technical user
(call it "p2p") runs p2p software. The desktop-to-inet
traffic should be split into two parallel flows, "p2p" and
"!p2p". The entire desktop-to-inet traffic should be
constrained to 240kbit/s. If the two flows don''t compete for
this 240kbit/s (their combined upload stays below

I using ipp2p to block p2p traffic.
How to enable to use p2p to me host in my net ?

Unshapeable traffic
Hello,
Could somebody explain following issue ?
I set up htb class on outgoing external interface to shape p2p upload
traffic. I limited it to 4Mbit/s. I also set up iptables counters
chains in FORWARD chain to calculate traffic generated by p2p and
others.
While tc stats show that p2p shaping class keep defined 4Mbit traffic,
iptables counters show me that p2p traffic exceed traffic to 150% and
is about 6...

Intelligent P2P detection
Probably, I''m not the first one who needs solve problem with p2p.
Because, large part of my traffic is eaten by p2p software like KazAA,
e-mule, Direct Connect etc, I''m looking for the way of detection of such
traffic and marking it. However simple way with for instance 1214 port
for KazAA doesn''t work because this software uses floating port

PLEASE HELP! SHAPING P2P STILL NOT WORKING
Hello, some days ago, I was asking for help here about not able to do anything
when I had bittorrent running, I will post the problem here:
I''m using ipp2p to mark p2p packets, and then send them with -j CLASSIFY to
the correct HTB class, I see traffic in the class when I start azurerus, and
traffic does get shaped, but then I''m still not able to surf the web nor chat
nor anything, and I find this very weird, since the traffic is actually...

IPSec with 2.6.9 and Windows clients
Hi,
is there a good howto for a Linux VPN-Gateway using racoon and IPSec
provided with the actual kernel 2.6.9? Also one for how to set up a
connection to the gateway using Windows XP and the client shipped with it?

ipp2p problems
Hi all,
I have found problems in p2p traffic detection. The ipp2p module works
fine but in shorewall the rules written for this protocols never match
because the initials p2p connection (login) match in ''-m state --state
RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT'' rule before ''-m ipp2p --ipp2p -j DROP''
rule, so...

Shorewall and P2P traffic
...a public IP connected to my satellite router, and the second network card with private IP into my switch for the LAN. Shorewall firewall
My old satellite system is not being used.
Would it be possible/feasable to install a third network card into my Fedora Core 2 server, and then direct all known P2P traffic coming from the LAN down the old satellite system? Could this be done? How can I do it?
Thanks,
David.

HTB, strange capacity distribution
...ding several hours reading archives, I decided to write new
post.
I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB
setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics
data...
BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour:
I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link
capacity.
If I set both RATE and CEIL for "p2p" to some constant value,
everything is OK. When I set CEIL for "p2p" e.g. to 2048 kbps (total
link capacity), "p2p" starts to get most of the link capacity and does
not want t...
