Chi Square Test on two groups of variables
Dear R help I have been trying to conduct a chi square test on two groups of variables to test whether there is any relationship between the two sets of variables chisq.test(oxygen, train) Pearson's Chi-squared test data: oxygen X-squared = 26.6576, df = 128, p-value = 1 > chisq.test(oxygen) Pearson's Chi-squared test data: oxygen X-squared = 26.6576, df = 128, p-value = 1 It looks as if R is only reading the first set of variables pertain...

drop1, 2-way Unbalanced ANOVA
...feel I have to wade in and see if someone can help me out. Hopefully I'll phrase this properly given and hopefully it will end up only requiring a simple response. I have an experiment where I have measured a response variable (such as water content) following exposure to two treatments ("oxygen content" and "medium"). Oxygen content has three levels (5, 20, 35) and medium has two levels (Air, Water). I am interested if water content is different under the two treatments and whether the effect of oxygen content depends upon the medium in which the experiment was conducted (A...

Survival analysis
Dear all I have a dataset examining the probability of a population surviving (calculated from a logistic regression) of a species over a 200yr period. The predictor variables are either continuous but non-normal (e.g. temperature, oxygen) or categorical (e.g. channelisation), unfortunately I also have a large amount of missing values. Problem with FreeSwan and Shorewall on a LEAF(Oxygen) based router.
Hello, I seem to have the Freeswan IPSEC tunnel working between my two sites, but I am still having a problem that looks to be because of something I have configured wrong in my shorewall setup.. I have a LEAF Oxygen < 1.9 heavily modifed firewall setup.. Using FreeSwan 1.91, and Kernel 2.4.8. Modified to use IPTables and standard Debian network/interfaces. I am also using Shorewall 1.1.11. I tried upgrading to a newer version of Shorewall, and things broke completely... The shell scripts do some things...

Build failure for isohybrid
Dear list, I have been trying to debug a build failure for a while in the utils directory on isohybrid which seems to be distro specific. On Fedora 17 64bit the build completes without problems, but under both Ubuntu 32/64bit 11.10 and 12.04 I get the following: tim at oxygen:/usr/src/git/syslinux/utils$ make gcc -O2 -luuid -o isohybrid isohybrid.o isohdpfx.o isohybrid.o: In function `initialise_gpt': isohybrid.c:(.text+0xc42): undefined reference to `uuid_generate' isohybrid.c:(.text+0xd20): undefined reference to `uuid_generate' isohybrid.c:(.text+0xd2d):...

Applying function with separate dataframe (calibration file) supplying some inputs
Hello, I am not entirely sure the subject line captures what I am trying to do, but hopefully this description of the problem will help folks to see my challenge and hopefully offer constructive assistance. I have an experimental setup where I measure the decrease in oxygen in small vials as an organism, such as an oyster, consumes the oxygen. Each vial is calibrated before the experiment and these calibrations are used to convert the raw data after the experiment into oxygen values. I end up with two dataframes. One has the calibration data and for example could look...

Differencing data by groups
Colleagues, I am analyzing data collected during oceanographic cruises. We have conducted many cruises over the last decade. On each cruise we visit ~50 stations. At each station (termed EventNum)we lower an instrument that measures depth, temperature, salinity and oxygen every few seconds as it is lowered through the water. Data from all EventNums on all cruises are stacked, generating a data file that might look like CruiseID Year Season EventNum Region Depth Salinity Temp Oxygen 1 CF0101 2001 Spring 849 Lower 0.056 21.1753 15.5626 8.12344 2...

HELP...Running data
...tudents and we have a problem concerning an exercize. We don't know how to resolve it. It would be fantastic if someone can help us. Thanks. Description: This study examined how the metabolic cost of locomotion varied with speed, stride frequency and body mass. Cost was determined by measuring oxygen consumption (?vo2?), analyzing the oxygen content in air inhaled and exhaled by the subjects through a mask. The rate of oxgen consumption was measured for three ?subject?s locomoting at all combinations of low and high levels of the three factors - running ?speed?, ?stride? frequency, and ?mass? d...

Interpolating a line and then summing there values for a diurnal oxygen curve (zoo object)
#I would like to interpolate a straight line between 06/08/06 04:16:00 - 06/08/06 20:31:00 with values and then sum them. This is an estimate of ecosystem #respiration and I will be using this in a larger context(48 days of these diurnal curves), but for right now I am just trying to figure out how to do it for this one #day example. I have some other code for Ecosystem (stream) Metabolism that

OT: question on setting up an email server
...like thunderbird, or evolution and retrieve email from my email account at bellsouth. What I want to try and do is set the machine up so that my machine is the email server, and I retrieve my email from it. Is what I'm thinking about even possible, or am I just simply having a case of too much oxygen on the brain? If what I'm thinking about is possible, how would I go about doing it? Thanks Jimmy

Parsing a Simple Chemical Formula

My example will have only a limited number of elements, few enough that one can search directly for each element. So some examples would be C5H12, or C5H12O or C5H11BrO (note that for oxygen and bromine, O or Br, there is no following number meaning a 1 is implied). Let's say > form <- "C5H11BrO" I'd like to get the count of each element, so in this case I need to extract C and 5, H and 11, Br and 1, O and 1 (I want to calculate the molecular weight by...
