merge on non-identical names
...ifier. Does anyone know a good way to calculate a
similarity measure on two names, or even better is there a natural language
matching function in an R package? I did some searches on this but must not
know the right keywords to search.
As an example, here are some possible non-identical names:
Oxfam, Oxfam USA
American Services, Americam Services - (just mis-spelled)
Global Alliance for Action, Global Alliance for the Environment - (a
non-match)
Any suggestions are welcome!

some problems.
I need some help. I have a had a nasty crash. I have got the system back
to the point where I am talking the the world. The client machines (win9x)
can see the Suse box (where smb is running) when pinged, but the samba
server doesn't seem to exist. I get the error, 'pass invalid or server
offline'.
The dns seems to be working from outside the server as well. Ie I can see
