[Eaton 5S 1500] overvoltage shut down?
...click the UPS makes when
it shuts the load on the ports and then shuts itself down (ie same thing if
I simulate with upsmon -fsd). The machines instantly came back, there was
no actual downtime, and the machine next to them which is not on the UPS
never went down.
This to me suggests some kind of overvoltage protection or something where
the UPS decided to shut down the load, but I'm quite puzzled by it as I'd
expect the UPS to actually shield the machines from it and certainly not
turn something off brutally like that..
has anybody seen stuff like that before? is this a faulty UPS? both unit...

Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL: very old or unknown APC model, support will be limited
I have a Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL connected via serial cable to TrueNAS TrueNAS-9.2.1.2-RELEASE-x64 (002022c) which runs on FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE-p3.
When I start the NUT service, I get the message:
Oct 20 01:53:50 truenas notifier: very old or unknown APC model, support will be limited
Which I interpret as an indicator of less than optimal operating mode. I suspect that the model identifier is not

Question about hardware failures / FSD
Hello,
The UPS I am developing a driver to is able to report several flags for
critical hardware conditions, like overheat, overload, inverter failure,
output short etc. What should be the correct policy of operation when such
a condition occurs? I think that the an UPS in such a condition is not
reliable and therefore a system shutdown should be called. However, the
developer's manual and

Slightly OT: Generators & UPS
Hi,
Can anyone shed some light on this:
My PC's are on a separate power circuit. Each PC has its own UPS.
I have an old Honda generator. When the power goes out, I fire up the
generator. However, the UPS's still run on battery. If I connect the
PC directly to the socket and bypass the UPS, the PC works.
I was told by a UPS supplier, that the power output from the
generator was

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy,
where there are occasional thunder-storms.
There was one yesterday, when the electricity
went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion.
My server, an HP MicroServer,
came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions,
but not on the third.
I assume that the problem arises because the machine
does not close down properly.
(Although it is
