Hardware requirements for SPICEd desktops
...derstood the above correctly, I haven't understood what are the hardware requirements server and client side: 1. Let's say I assign 4GB of RAM to each guest and that the network has 20 running guests at any given time, should the server have at least 80GB (20 by 4) of RAM or can I "oversell" a bit and bet on the fact that only few guests will actually use 4GB? 2. What's a reasonable amount of RAM to have installed client-side, for 4GB-RAM guests? 3. Should the clients have a CPU that supports VT-x? 4. Is it possible to have QXL supported on the clients regardless of the p...

over-allocation of memory
This is probably a really stupid question, but what happens if you have more memory allocated to domU''s than your physical RAM? Will that cause dom0 to crash? DomU''s to crash? Or just slow performance due to swap use on dom0? I ask this because we''ve got high availability clusters running domU''s, and I want to know how much memory is safe to allocate to

Newbie question: Poor transmission quality
I am using Icecast2 with Ezstream, sending a playlist of mp3s. The signal quality is fine over my home network; but out on the internet it is poor, with frequent interruptions and losses of connection. I would like to know which of the following two conditions, if any, can be causing the problem. First, I have a dsl internet service, with only 160k upload capacity. Second, my home network is

vctrs: a type system for the tidyverse
...that flavour here: vec_c(factor("a"), Sys.Date()) #> Error: No common type for factor and date This isn't a type system imposed by the language, but I don't think that's a reason not to call it a type system. That said, I agree that calling it a type system is currently overselling it, and I have made your proposed change to the README (and added a very-long term goal of making a type system that could be applied using (e.g.) annotations). > "The short-term goal of vctrs is to develop a type system for vectors which will help reason about functions that combine d...

Asterisk Hosting (Dedicated Servers)
Hello guys, Does anyone has an Asterisk server hosted off-site ? Like in those data centers that do web hosting in dedicated servers ? Is there a hosting company that has a special plan to host voip services like this, or usually is hosted in those dedicated servers like the ones I asked above ? What about QoS ? I know that most (if not all) are connected to their switch through a

...vant ones. Also, with limited inlining (and assuming (1)), it addresses problems (a) and (b), too. Adrian volunteered to implement this and is apparently almost ready to post a patch (still working on testcase update script logic I believe (probably other details, don't let me oversell it)). 3. Create a special `METADATA_SUBPROGRAM_BLOCK` for each `DISubprogram` in the global metadata block. Store the relevant `DISubprogram` and all of the subprogram's `DILexicalBlock`s and `DILocalVariable`s. The block can be lazy-loaded on an all-or-nothing basis. In co...

[LLVMdev] llvm.meta (was Rotated loop identification)
...;t need it for anything I'm working on yet, and wasn't aware that anyone else liked this particular idea. But I haven't heard any argument against it. I am aware that a lot of people want to attach new semantics to the IR that are not necessarily easy to preserve, so I don't want to oversell a solution. I don't have an opinion on whether each type of invariant should get its own intrinsic ID or we should have one and use the flexibility of metadata operands. The important thing is that the optimizer have a uniform approach to handling them, and that they truly cannot interfere wi...

Newbie question: Poor transmission quality
...#39;t reencode? - do the math - not enough bandwidth -> fail - Or if you reencode to a certain bitrate it probably is 128k or higher - The intartubez are not quality guaranteed. The path from A to B might not get all the bandwidth it needs. Or simply your upstream bandwidth is chocked due to overselling by your ISP. - You might be running other things that need upstream bandwidth. - Torrenting/seeding the latest Ubuntu install cd? Or a combination of all of the aforementioned. > Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. hth Thomas

AW: Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?

Which then presumably leads to higher overselling in the home market since use is presumed lower. Also there are often restriction on the line like no Ips given for servers and no servers allowed. I doubt they really care if we can afford it persay... I think it is just a matter of what pricepoint to what feature set. W >There'...
