FK constraints overrated?
Hello folks, I use to think that a relational databases without foreign keys constraints enforced strictly by the RDBMS were no good, piece of crap, data junk. However, I''ve also learned the hard way that FKs constraints imposes serious difficulties when moving data around, specially between different DBs, or for loading test data or for upgrading DBs schemas, or for porting DBs

The use for an XML based metadata format
I've been trying to follow the situation here, because that's one of the things I try to do in Xiph: know what's happening. There's a total of 70 messages related with recent metadata discussions. Here's what I have understood so far: * Daniel is still not trying to read and understand the _other_ metadata proposals; he makes several non-true statements regarding them. *

help pages base R not rendered correctly?
Hi Duncan, that explains, thank you. If nobody finds the time to fix that, I might give it a shot myself this summer. Barbeque is overrated. smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear Andrew. You are right, I should have taken a deeper look into the standard output during compilation. I did just assume source4 was the one for Samba4. Anyway, besides the source confusion (really, even if I had found the right one, following the code would have been out of my reach), I don't seem to find how that is related with the documentation issue, or the mput/mask/recurse

Add Userdb extra field to existing configuration settings, not overriding them
Hi, If i understood correctly the extra field feature ( https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/user_database_ex tra_fields/ ), any extra field that is passed from a SQL query will overwrite any existing settings on the dovecot.conf configuration file ( if present ) . For example, if i want to enable a plugin ( ex: acl ) on a per user basis, i would add a column\field

htb overrate with 2.6.16
Hi Here is something that worked with with 2.6.10-1.771_FC2smp and stopped working when I upgraded to 2.6.16-1.2069_FC4smp. These are fedora kernels and the network controller is an Intel Gbit (e1000) running a 100 Mbps Full Duplex. Don''t know how or if this matters but the 2.6.10 kernel has CONFIG_X86_HZ=1000 and the 2.6.16 has CONFIG_HZ=250 The idea is to just shape to , say 2Mbit, a

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear Jeremy. Really appreciate you took your time to answer. I had already reviewed source4/client/client.c looking for mput (cmd_mput) command, but unluckily saying that my C programming skills are poor woud be really overrating them. I'm sorry to disagree for two reasons 1-. It works for mget, true that the source code is completely different. 2-. If taking a look into smbclient man

Something like rcov but more explicit?
Hey list, Does anything exist that can show me which lines are explicitly tested? RCov is great, but it doesn''t really give a sense of _actual_ coverage, indeed, there is no guarantee that functions executed were in fact called as the result of a line being tested. I know nothing of the rspec internals, but would a simple list of executed lines be a relatively simple feature to add?

Struts vs RoR
hi, I recently attended one of the ruby meetings that we have in my city. There one of the speaker said that google, amazon .. are working on RoR but still the performance of RoR is not at par with J2EE others.... he meant that though google, amazon working o it they will not bring it as front applications only parts the reason ruby is slow in comparison to other languages.... and in real time

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear all. I would like to propose a possible way to make mget and mput behave more or less the same way, rather that just changing documentation. Please, bear in mind this is a poor attempt coming from a person with no C skills at all, so other than testing that only filtered files are transferred, I have not gone further. Hope at least to have been able not to corrupt any pointer, but I'm

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear all. Confirmed: compilation of 4.12.6 produces same result, mput + recurse ignores mask for files. Will you please tell me if you need further details, or which steps I should follow? Should I file a bug? Many thanks. Best regards. El mar., 25 ago. 2020 a las 9:52, LPC DPG (<lpcdpg at gmail.com>) escribi?: > Dear Andrew. > > You are right, I should have taken a deeper look

Onboard RAID Tyan Transport GT24 (Thunder K8SRE s2891)
I've been checking out this and like the looks of it. http://www.tyan.com/products/html/gt24b2891.html I was told the onboard SATA RAID controller can only be used by windows. However, others have told me that there is no problem using it with linux. Anyone used the Tyan Transport GT24 (TYAN Thunder K8SRE s2891 motherboard)? Good choice for a CentOS server? Thanks, Josh

Hi. I''m using the following filter from lartc "ultimate PPP" example: tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \ 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 It works fine, but when I remove the "burst 10k", I receive the following error: "burst" requires "rate". The use for an XML based metadata format
Ivo, Let's not start finger-pointing, since that's not constructive. I do think we have gotten further than what you are describing. Skeleton, CMML and Vorbiscomment are not sufficient for some people - in particular when there is a more complex piece of metadata to be communicted, e.g. from an archive that stores a lot more information than just name-value pairs. But I agree: the space
