FK constraints overrated?
Hello folks,
I use to think that a relational databases without foreign keys
constraints enforced strictly by the RDBMS were no good, piece of crap,
data junk.
However, I''ve also learned the hard way that FKs constraints imposes
serious difficulties when moving data around, specially between
different DBs, or for loading test data or for upgrading DBs schemas, or
for porting DBs

The use for an XML based metadata format
...is highly ambitious,
especially for someone with no actual knowledge in the field.
* There's interest again in metadata in Ogg. This be a good thing.
* Skeleton still seems to me to be the more advanced and logical step
for metadata in Ogg.
Here's my take on the issue:
Metadata is highly overrated outside the Semantic Web. As far as I
see, that's why nobody actually cared to support anything but Vorbis
Comments, ID3 hacks (in MP3), and APE tags (in whatever proprietary
format that uses that). I believe Matroska has no metadata support
either, but I may be wrong. So, if it's fo...

help pages base R not rendered correctly?
Hi Duncan,
that explains, thank you. If nobody finds the time to fix that, I might
give it a shot myself this summer. Barbeque is overrated.

Add Userdb extra field to existing configuration settings, not overriding them
...ail_plugins imap_quota
.
>From my test, this combination will lead to having the logging users with
acl_enabled=1, a mail_plugins list of acl and imap_acl only, without the
quota and notify plugins .
If i change the acl_value to 0, the returned mail_plugins list is empty and
it will not overrive\overwrite the dovecot.conf mail_plugins configuration .
If it's correct, there is a way to merge both settings, like having in the
dovecot.conf a minimal\base subset of settings and adding any additional
values via SQL queries ?
Thanks and best regards

Uh. So, practically speaking, migrating an existing domain from NT do
AD pose me the need to modify substantially the overral samba
configuration, or split the server's domain in two, one running the DC
and other as members?

htb overrate with 2.6.16
Hi
Here is something that worked with with 2.6.10-1.771_FC2smp and stopped
working when I upgraded to 2.6.16-1.2069_FC4smp.
These are fedora kernels and the network controller is an Intel Gbit
(e1000) running a 100 Mbps Full Duplex.
Don''t know how or if this matters but the 2.6.10 kernel has
CONFIG_X86_HZ=1000 and the 2.6.16 has CONFIG_HZ=250
The idea is to just shape to , say 2Mbit, a

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear Jeremy.
Really appreciate you took your time to answer. I had already reviewed
source4/client/client.c looking for mput (cmd_mput) command, but unluckily
saying that my C programming skills are poor woud be really overrating them.
I'm sorry to disagree for two reasons
1-. It works for mget, true that the source code is completely different.
2-. If taking a look into smbclient man latest release:
"
mask <mask>
This command allows the user to set up a mask which will be used during

Something like rcov but more explicit?
Hey list,
Does anything exist that can show me which lines are explicitly tested? RCov
is great, but it doesn''t really give a sense of _actual_ coverage, indeed,
there is no guarantee that functions executed were in fact called as the
result of a line being tested.
I know nothing of the rspec internals, but would a simple list of executed
lines be a relatively simple feature to add?

Struts vs RoR
hi,
I recently attended one of the ruby meetings that we have in my city.
There one of the speaker said that google, amazon .. are working on RoR
but still the performance of RoR is not at par with J2EE others....
he meant that though google, amazon working o it they will not bring it as
front applications only parts
the reason ruby is slow in comparison to other languages....

Cisco is overrated. Grandstream... You get what you pay for. I don't know
who you deal with I have direct contacts with Polycoms to get what I want
when I need it.
Anyhow after doing a sip show peers and saving it to a file called UA
here is a summary from 2 servers I have to deal with on a daily basis...

Onboard RAID Tyan Transport GT24 (Thunder K8SRE s2891)
I've been checking out this and like the looks of it.
http://www.tyan.com/products/html/gt24b2891.html
I was told the onboard SATA RAID controller can only
be used by windows. However, others have told me that
there is no problem using it with linux.
Anyone used the Tyan Transport GT24 (TYAN Thunder
K8SRE s2891 motherboard)? Good choice for a CentOS
server?
Thanks,

Fwd: police burst is mandatory?
Hi.
I''m using the following filter from lartc "ultimate PPP" example:
tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \
0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
It works fine, but when I remove the "burst 10k", I receive the following
error:
"burst" requires "rate".
Illegal "police"
