Mount point problem
...a glusterfs filesystem would
not mount because someone had managed to create some files and
directories under the mount point. Perhaps this behavior is
intentional, but I would prefer that it work like NFS and just
overmount. When bringing a cluster down and back up, it is quite
possible for overeager users to log in and start working before
everything is up.
In addition the error message was unhelpful:
-bash-3.2# glusterfs --server fs01 /data --volume-name=data
glusterfs: could not open specfile

Validation not executing on save - need help debugging
All,
The validation on my object is not being triggered any more on the save
action.
I''m trying to debug it. In attempting to debug it, I''m trying to
understand exactly what validates_presence_of does. Basically, I''m
trying to see if for some reason, validates_presence_of doesn''t think my
fields are blank now. I see from the API docs. that

Be more discriminating in rescue and wrapping with StatementInvalid
...ndle
My explanation is a bit long-winded, but here''s the motivation for the
patch, as explained in the lighthouse ticket:
Perhaps I should open another ticket for this, please let me know if
that''s the case. I have a patch that addresses what is for me the most
egregious case of overeager exception handling. In activerecord/lib/
active_record/connection_adapters/abstract_adapter.rb the #log method
rescues Exception and then re-raises as an
ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid exception.
Some people have hit this problem when they have slow queries that are
hanging the system and so I thi...

Risk of readRDS() not detecting race conditions with parallel saveRDS()?
I hardly know anything about the format used in (non-compressed)
serialization/RDS, but hoping someone with more knowledge could give
me some feedback;
Consider two R processes running in parallel on the same unknown file
system. Both of them write and read to the same RDS file foo.rds
(without compression) at random times using saveRDS(object,
file="foo.rds", compress=FALSE) and

v2.0.beta1 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/beta/dovecot-2.0.beta1.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/beta/dovecot-2.0.beta1.tar.gz.sig
Now that v2.0 is in beta stage I don't expect anything big to change
anymore. The configuration and the APIs shouldn't change in
non-backwards compatible ways. There are still bugs left to be fixed and
some small features to be implemented, but I'd like to
